In 2020, 18 brand-new carriages were built, including 8 Golden Diamond carriages and 10 Blue Diamond carriages; as well as 7 Silver Diamond carriages. From 2020 to 2024, the Gold & Blue Diamond and Silver & Blue Diamond carriages of the New Oriental Express have become excellent choices for traveling throughout Xinjiang, north and south of the Tianshan Mountains.
In 2025, the New Oriental Express will adopt a new marshalling mode—two sets of carriages: Gold & Silver Diamond and Silver & Blue Diamond.
Each Golden Diamond carriage is equipped with 4 suites, recommended for 2 guests, accommodating up to 8 additional guests. Each suite measures approximately 10 square meters and features oversized scenic windows, brand-name mattresses (1.5M*2M), desks, wardrobes, safes, and separate dry and wet shower bathrooms. Each room in the Golden Diamond suites is equipped with a safe, where valuable items can be stored when leaving the train.
Each Silver Diamond carriage’s presidential carriage is equipped with 2 presidential rooms (with showers and extra-large bathrooms), 2 executive standard rooms, 2 luxury 4-person boxes, 1 public restroom, 1 attendant room, and a living room. Each presidential room has a 1m single bed, mosquito net, desk, armchair. The two presidential rooms share an independent shower bathroom with a wet and dry separation area, suitable for couples or friends. The executive standard room is equipped with two 0.7M wide single beds and a washroom, recommended for two people.
Each Blue Diamond carriage is equipped with 7 suites, accommodating 2-4 people. Of course, Xiaohua recommends staying with family and friends. Staying with 4 people is more cost-effective and offers higher privacy! It also has a large viewing window, extra-wide lower beds (0.9M*1.95M) and upper beds (0.7M*1.82M), which can be folded up against the wall. There are shared bathrooms and showers.
Due to Xinjiang’s vast territory and abundant resources, regardless of the itinerary, a significant amount of time will be spent on the journey. Sleeping at night and playing during the day on the train is efficient. Additionally, most regions in Xinjiang lack good supporting facilities, especially good hotels. The tourist train is a mobile hotel with better configurations than most hotels. Meanwhile, Xinjiang’s scenery is world-class, and train travel allows you to enjoy the beautiful views along the way.
