The Silk Road Dream Train is operated by China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group Co., Ltd., and consists of 15 carriages, including fully en-suite soft sleeper carriages, as well as multi-functional carriages such as living room cars, dining cars, and bar cars.

The train offers 24-hour service provided by 32 stewards and 5 resort ambassadors, with 2 travel photographers documenting the wonderful moments throughout the journey.

The exterior of the train carriages was hand-painted by the design team from the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University, featuring Chinese Han Dynasty cloud patterns, adorned in a verdant landscape tone complemented by Han Dynasty lacquerware red, perfectly blending Eastern aesthetics with Silk Road culture, presenting an elegant and serene beauty. This tourist train departs from Xining, passing through Haiyan, Golmud, and Dachaidan, before finally arriving in Dunhuang. The entire journey spans 5 days and 4 nights, immersing passengers in the natural scenery and cultural landscapes along the ‘Qinghai-Gansu Grand Circle Route’.

During the journey, passengers can enjoy unique landscapes such as deserts, gobies, salt lakes, and grasslands, and visit the internationally influential and culturally rich Dunhuang Mogao Caves, Xining Ta’er Monastery, and the ‘Mirror of the Sky’, Chaka Salt Lake. Qinghai Lake, with its shimmering waters merging with the sky, resembles a dazzling sapphire; as light and shadow flicker past the train carriages, it seems to transport people back to the ancient Silk Road where camel bells tinkle.
