▌ Itinerary Overview
The route first circles around the Junggar Basin, then enters the oasis beyond the Great Wall in Xinjiang—the Ili Valley, reaching the Bayinbuluke Grassland in the hinterland of the Tianshan Mountains. After crossing the Daban Pass and traversing the Gobi Desert, we step into the Turpan Basin rich in folk customs, and finally return to Urumqi. The entire journey lasts for 11 days and covers nearly 4,000 kilometers. Along the way, we cross the Gobi Desert (General Gobi), traverse the desert (Gurbantunggut Desert), climb snow-capped mountains (Tianshan Mountains), and gallop across grasslands (Nalati and Bayinbuluke Grasslands).
Northern Xinjiang, the Junggar Basin, the Ili Valley, the Tianshan Mountains, the Altai Mountains, one after another are areas full of legendary colors yet little known to people. For thousands of years, the Sacae people, the Dayuezhi people, the Wusun people, and the Mongols have written the long song of history for us with ironclad cavalry.
Today, returning to this homeland, what meets the eye are down-to-earth Kazakh young men waving long whips to herd cattle and sheep, snow-white yurts with blue smoke rising in the distance, diligent Kazakh women burning fragrant milk tea to welcome the return of love. The god’s backyard, Kanas, Baha, and Hemu are welcoming visitors from all directions as an idyllic paradise like Eastern Switzerland.

▌ Itinerary Overview
Kanas is located in the middle section of the Altai Mountains in northern Xinjiang, in the golden zone bordering Kazakhstan, Russia, and Mongolia. Its natural and cultural landscapes have always maintained their primitive appearance and are known as the ‘Pure Land of Earth’. Among them, Kanas Lake is praised as ‘the most beautiful lake in the world’.
The four seasons change with colorful scenery, and the ancient village is quiet and peaceful. Ride a horse along the ancient horse trail to gallop on the grassland, listening to the wind roaring in your ears; in the mountains, see snow-capped peaks surrounding, flowers blooming everywhere, and eagles soaring overhead; walk among the flowers to seek out the uninhabited secret spots; pitch a tent under a sky full of stars, light a bonfire, and sing those ancient ballads; when you look up at the quiet starry sky, the mundane world is far away on the other side of the globe.
