Xinjiang boasts ‘mountains with treasures, basins with oil, and rivers with fish’, forming countless contrasting oasis scenic areas and desert scenic areas. It is one of the important regions for the development of tourism in China. The "Regulations on the General Survey of China’s Tourism Resources" categorizes tourism into six major types, including geological landscapes and water landscapes, and Xinjiang possesses all six types of resources. Of the 68 types of tourism resources in China, Xinjiang has 56, ranking first in the country. Currently, there are 41 key cultural relics protection sites under national protection, 303 under autonomous region-level protection, and 976 under county- or city-level protection. Preliminary investigations have identified over 4,000 cultural relics sites, with a total of 116,753 cultural relics collected throughout Xinjiang, including 706 first-grade relics. Tourist attractions such as the Ancient City of Loulan, the Ancient City of Gaochang, the Ancient City of Jiaohe, and the Ancient City of Beiting are all key cultural relics protection sites under national protection. Together with Dunhuang, Yungang, and Longmen, Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves and Kumutula Thousand Buddha Caves are known as China’s four major grottoes and are of extremely high historical value for studying the Buddhist art of Qiuci. The rich cultural heritage has become an important human landscape tourism resource in China. The Nalati Grassland is dotted with herds of cattle and sheep. Xinjiang has a total of 468 tourist attractions, including 27 national A-grade attractions, among which there are 3 4A-grade attractions and 5 3A-grade attractions. It has formed a development pattern of ‘five regions and three routes’, with the ‘Silk Road’ as the main route, focusing on the Kanas Lake Eco-tourism Area, Tianchi, Sayram Lake, and Bosten Lake scenic areas, the ancient cultural site tourist areas of Turpan and Kucha, the folk customs tourist area of Kashgar, and the northern scenery tourist area of Yili. A batch of influential tourism products at home and abroad have been developed, including Tianchi, Kanas, Grape Valley, Nanshan, and Golden Beach.Xinjiang Tourism Network of China, Xinjiang Tourism Network, Xinjiang Tourism Routes, Xinjiang Tourism
