Also visit the [Church of St. Mary] and the most beautiful lagoon in Sri Lanka, [Negombo Lagoon].
Head to the venue of the Dalada Maligawa Festival. The last stronghold of the Sinhalese kings was ceded to Britain in 1815. Kandy is a typical city influenced by Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Walking around [Kandy Lake] and taking a stroll along the lakeside is a very romantic thing to do. Many shady trees line the lakeside, providing a cool refuge from the heat. Stop and rest on the benches under the trees if you get tired, and enjoy the tranquility away from the developed and noisy cities. Monasteries, temples, and convents can be seen everywhere, and while they are thriving, they still maintain the Buddhist tradition of Sri Lanka. After lunch in Kandy, we will visit the [Temple of the Tooth]. According to legend, after the Buddha entered nirvana and was cremated, his relics were distributed to the rulers of various places for worship in the northern mountainous regions of India. The Buddha’s tooth relic was enshrined in India for eight centuries and is considered a sacred and precious relic in Sri Lanka, renowned throughout Sri Lanka and the entire Buddhist world.
After lunch, head to [Sigiriya Rock Fortress]. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is an actual airborne palace built on an orange-red giant rock in the city of Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. It boasts the natural wonders of Australia’s Uluru and the artificial miracle of turning the impossible into possible, leaving every first-time visitor astonished and amazed.
It is hailed as the eighth wonder of the world, one of the vertices of Sri Lanka’s "Cultural Triangle," and one of the precious world heritage sites protected by UNESCO.
Stay at a hotel in Kandy and enjoy dinner.
Day 3
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
Meals: Breakfast: Hotel buffet; Lunch: At your own expense; Dinner: Hotel buffet
Accommodation: Nuwara Eliya
Transportation: Coach
After breakfast, we will head to the highland tea region in the central part, Nuwara Eliya. This area is located among mountains with a year-round temperature of 4-16℃, making it a popular summer resort in Sri Lanka. It is rich and elegant. Along the way, you can see high mountains, deep valleys, waterfalls, streams, and so on. It was once called "Little London" by the British colonists of the time. Visit the local large black tea factory, BLUE FIELD [about 1 hour], to see the traditional tea-making process in Ceylon. Taste a cup of fragrant Ceylon black tea under the green canopy with the aroma of tea lingering in the air. After lunch, take a city tour in Nuwara Eliya. Afterwards (participate in optional activities: Victoria Park + Grand Hotel afternoon tea), Victoria Park is a park in the center of the urban area of Nuwara Eliya. It can be said to be one of the most beautiful and well-maintained small-town parks in South Asia. The park was originally a research area of Hakgala Botanical Garden and later became a park due to the visit of a German prince. After 1897, it was renamed Victoria Park in honor of the Diamond Jubilee celebrating the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s reign. Victoria Park is very quiet. In addition to seeing blooming flowers here, you can also see many small animals, especially birds, such as Indian robins, turtle doves, and Indian blue robins. Therefore, Victoria Park is a very famous bird-watching area locally. In addition, there is a small children’s amusement park within the park.
Day 4
Nuwara Eliya – Yala
Meals: Breakfast: Hotel buffet; Lunch: At your own expense; Dinner: Hotel buffet
Accommodation: Yala
Transportation: Coach
After breakfast, take the tea plantation train to Yala. The train travels at an altitude of around 1,800 meters, passing through vast, verdant tea plantations. In the primitive forest zone, the misty clouds are breathtaking, truly allowing you to understand why numerous domestic and international magazines have hailed this route as one of the most beautiful train routes in the world.
Day 5
Yala – Southern Coast
Meals: Breakfast: Hotel buffet; Lunch: At your own expense; Dinner: Hotel buffet
Accommodation: Southern Coast
Transportation: Coach
After breakfast, enjoy free time. After lunch, drive to Yala National Park (optional activity) and take a jeep safari to track leopards, black bears, wild peacocks, crocodiles, and capture the elegance of elephants and various other rare wildlife. Yala National Park extends from the coast to the interior and is the largest wildlife reserve in Sri Lanka. Here, various wildlife inhabit naturally, with 109 species of mammals such as leopards, monkeys, wild boars, wild buffaloes, bears, foxes, wolves, and pangolins, as well as many reptiles and marine animals living harmoniously.
Day 6
Southern Coast
Meals: Breakfast: Hotel buffet; Lunch: At your own expense; Dinner: Hotel buffet
Accommodation: Colombo
Transportation: Coach
After breakfast, proceed to the southern coast and visit the Galle Fort, then head to the [Stilt Fishermen]. It is said that in the past, fishermen who couldn’t afford boats came up with this method: they set up wooden stakes in offshore waves. The fishermen waded to the stakes soaked in seawater every day, climbed up, sat on a simple wooden frame, held fishing rods without bait, and waited for the fish to hook. From afar, they looked like a group of fishermen standing on stilts in the sea. In the afternoon, optional activities include a [Boat Tour of the Mangroves] for about 1.5 hours. The Bentota Madu River Mangroves are the original mangroves in Sri Lanka, where you can enjoy a natural fish spa. Of course, there are also cute little baby sea turtles waiting for your affection at the [Sea Turtle Hatchery].
Day 7
Southern Coast-Colombo
Meals: Breakfast: Hotel buffet Lunch: On your own Dinner: Chinese dinner
Accommodation: Onboard the airplane
Transportation: Coach
After breakfast, take the [Sea Train] to Colombo, which takes about 30 minutes. As the train passes the southwestern coast of Colombo, you will see the seaside train tracks that resemble the real-life version of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film "Spirited Away". In some places, the train is less than half a meter away from the sea. However, it’s worth noting that conditions on Sri Lanka’s seaside trains are relatively poor, seats are first-come, first-served, and you may be seated among locals, which can be crowded.
In the afternoon, head to Colombo for an authentic Chinese meal and a city tour of Colombo to purchase souvenirs. [City Tour]: Visit the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, which resembles China’s Great Hall of the People, the municipal government building resembling the United States Capitol, and the Independence Square with its ancient architecture. For dinner, enjoy a [Chinese meal], and happily reminisce about the highlights of this trip. After the meal, bid farewell to the driver and tour guide before heading to the airport to catch an international flight. Goodbye, Sri Lanka, a beautiful pearl in the Indian Ocean!
