When it comes to lavender, Huocheng County in Yili, Xinjiang is a veritable city of lavender. It boasts large and dense lavender fields across the country. Every June to August, large areas of lavender bloom in the suburban farmland of Huocheng County, creating a very romantic purple countryside that attracts a large number of tourists for photography and visits. Most people visit Huocheng to see lavender by self-driving or chartering a car. When passing through the farmland beside the road, they can get off and take photos of their favorite flower fields at any time. However, they usually have to pay a small fee to the local farmers, generally around 20 yuan per person to enter the flower fields for photos. But due to the poor road conditions, vehicles may not be able to reach the destination, so some walking is required.
If you want to gain a deeper understanding of lavender and essential oils, you can visit Princess Jieyou Lavender Garden in Qingshuihe Development Zone. There is a Lavender Museum in the garden. Additionally, there is a colorful flower field combined with various flowers and a vast purple lavender field, which is also a great place for photography. If you don’t go to the lavender garden and only take photos at farms, a popular location is near the 65th Regiment Farm (between Huocheng County and Qingshuihe Town, beside G218 Highway). There are many farms planting lavender here, which is also a popular place for tourists to take photos of lavender. Additionally, there are many places near the 70th and 71st Regiments for planting, which you can visit for photography. In the past two years, lavender planted near Lucaogou in the northeastern part of Qingshuihe (i.e., the 8th Brigade of the 65th Regiment) has gradually become known. The lavender here is dense and covers a vast area, and there are not many tourists. It is a great spot to enjoy the lavender field alone. You need to go further northeast along National Highway 312 from Qingshuihe for more than ten kilometers. If you’re interested, you can go there.
Lavender Blooming Season: Depending on temperature and rainfall, it is usually best between June 10th and July 10th. There may be some lavender at other times, but it may not be as abundant. By the end of July and early August, lavender will be harvested.
If you don’t have a car, worry about finding the way, don’t want to bother, or fear loneliness, then you have another option.
