Xinjiang has both beautiful scenery and culture. For any traveler, it will not be a boring destination. The vast and diverse region has both vitality and desolation. There are apricot blossoms blooming all over the mountains, vast grassland scenery, golden birch forests, as well as endless desert landscapes, scorching Flaming Mountains, and desolate and magnificent Yadan landforms.
And the ancient Silk Road, which was once prosperous, has given it a rich and profound cultural heritage.
Importantly, the unique Xinjiang cuisine adds icing on the cake to the journey. Dapanji (big plate chicken), fragrant grilled mutton, and sweet and delicious fruits are all delicious foods that people still think about after leaving, and it is not an exaggeration to say that they are reasons to attract you to Xinjiang again.
Flaming Mountains
Due to the widespread fame of the story in “Journey to the West” where Sun Wukong borrows the Bajiao Fan three times to extinguish the flames of the Flaming Mountains, the Flaming Mountains have become famous worldwide. The Flaming Mountains run east-west, starting from Lankan Liusha River in Shanshan County in the east and ending at Taoergou in Turpan in the west, spanning 100km.
Sayram Lake
Sayram Lake is the last place favored by the Atlantic Ocean’s warm and moist air currents, hence the saying “the last tear of the Atlantic Ocean”.
Sayram Lake is backed by snowy mountains, with vast grasslands by the lake and clear blue water. It has always been one of the most famous attractions in Xinjiang due to its stunning scenery.
The best time to visit is in June and July each year. At this time, the lakeside grassland is blooming with colorful wildflowers, reflecting the blue lake water under the snowy mountains, a magnificent sight not to be missed.

Tianshan Tianchi
Tianshan Tianchi, anciently known as “Jade Pool”, is a crescent-shaped lake on the north side of Mount Bogda in Tianshan. It is a famous tourist attraction in Xinjiang.
The lake water is as clear as jade, reflecting Mount Bogda. Surrounded by mountains, the slopes are covered with tall and verdant spruce and fir trees. The scenery is like a fairyland. It is recommended to visit in the late afternoon, because as the light changes, the lake water will appear green nearby and blue in the distance, very beautiful. There are also legends of the Queen Mother of the West and water monsters at Tianshan Tianchi, making it even more mysterious.
Putaogou
Located at the western end of the Flaming Mountains, this 8km-long valley is filled with endless orchards and vineyards because of a small stream flowing through it.
Guozigou
Another name for Guozigou is “Taleqi Daban”, located 40km northeast of Huocheng County. It is a necessary passage for the Urumqi-Yili highway on National Highway 312. The northern end of the valley opens out into the famous Sayram Lake.
