When it comes to autumn scenery, the most popular recently is undoubtedly the overwhelming red leaves in Sichuan. However, heading towards Xinjiang, besides the world-famous Kanas, there is another little-known but fairyland-like autumn scenery called Luntai.
The primitive poplar forest reserve in Luntai, Xinjiang, enters its most gorgeous season of the year from October to mid-November. Freshly released dynamic panoramic views are breathtakingly beautiful!
The poplar tree has a survival history of over 60 million years, and in Uyghur, it is called "Tohulak", meaning "brave and strong".
Apart from a small amount of poplar trees along the banks of some rivers flowing into the desert in the Qaidam Basin, the Hexi Corridor, and Alashan in Inner Mongolia, more than 90% of the poplar trees in China are distributed in Xinjiang, and 90% of them are concentrated in the Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang. In late autumn, the golden poplar trees decorate both banks of the Tarim River like a picturesque and splendid scene.
The poplar forest here once disappeared over a large area, but later it was restored through treatment. Nowadays, fish are leisurely here, and the number of migratory birds coming here is also increasing year by year.
