Southern Xinjiang refers to the part south of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang.
The main attractions include Thousand Buddha Caves, Tomur Peak Glacier, Kashgar Stone City, Xiangfei Tomb, Golden Hu Yang National Forest Park, Mount Mushtag, Pamir Plateau, Kashgar Grand Bazaar, Quci Ecological Park, Korla Lotus Lake, and many other attractions. Below are introductions to a few famous attractions.
1. Thousand Buddha Caves. Located in the secluded valley at the foot of Quetage Mountain in Kezir Township between Kuqa and Baicheng, the Thousand Buddha Caves are carved into the red rock walls of Mingwudage Mountain on the north bank of the Muzhati River, about 7 kilometers south of Kezir Township. It has extremely high artistic value and can be called the "Second Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes".
2. Kashgar Stone City. Located on the north side of Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, Xinjiang, at an altitude of 3100 meters, it is a famous ancient city site on the ancient Silk Road in Xinjiang. It is the intersection of the middle and southern routes of the ancient Silk Road. Several roads leading to the Pamirs from Kashgar, Yecheng, and Yingjisha converge here.
3. Xiangfei Tomb. It is located in Haohan Village, 5 kilometers east of Kashgar City, and Xiangfei Tomb is just one of them.
