Hemu tourist grassland is located in an intermountain graben basin at the confluence of Kanas River and Hemu River. The surrounding mountains are broad and thick, with rounded tops. The rivers mostly cut through to form canyons, resulting in a complex terrain. The Hemu River runs southwest from the northeast, dividing the grassland into two halves. The shady slopes of the mountains are covered with lush forests, where red deer, marmots, and snowcocks dwell. The shady slopes of Hemu grassland are covered with green grass and colorful flowers, fragrant and inviting. Bees are busy collecting nectar from the flowers, while cattle and sheep graze happily all over the mountains, presenting a charming and vast grassland scenery. It is a typical primitive natural ecological landscape. From the small hills surrounding Hemu Village, you can overlook the panoramic view of Hemu Village and Hemu River, as well as enjoy the distant sunrise, snowy peaks, and trickling streams. Close by, you can see the homes of the Tuwa people. It is an excellent location for photographing sunrises, morning mist, wooden cabins, and the Hemu River.
Best Time to Visit Hemu
June – October. From June to August, Hemu is covered with green grass and colorful wildflowers, forming a summer world together with blue skies, white clouds, snowy peaks, clear waters, wooden cabins, and jungles. From September to October, the leaves in Hemu turn golden yellow, with layers of blue sky, clear water, and yellow mountains, showcasing a typical primitive natural scenery. On the small hills around Hemu Village, you can overlook the panorama of Hemu Village and the Hemu River, watch the sunrise, snowy peaks, and trickling streams in the distance, and have a close view of Tuwa people’s homes. It is an excellent place to capture sunrises, morning mist, wooden cabins, and the Hemu River.

Hemu is leisurely and lazy, you can rent a horse from the landlord, cross the small bridge, walk through the forest, and follow the horse trail along the mountain to the beautiful peak where few people have been; or do nothing, sit quietly by the river and daydream, which is also a rare pleasure. In autumn, Hemu is colorful with red leaves all over the mountain. The Hemu River quietly flows through the birch forest, and the soft sunlight of dusk gently falls on the log cabins. Groups of cows and sheep return and cross the wooden bridge over the Hemu River. The whole village gives people a sense of peace, which is simply a serene and colorful oil painting. It is recommended that you must take time to wander in the birch forest, whether by horse or on foot.
