  Xinjiang Tourism: Koktokay, Northern Xinjiang

Xinjiang is surrounded by three mountains and two basins, with the Tianshan Mountains, Kunlun Mountains, and Altay Mountains stretching across the entire region. Therefore, no matter where you are in Xinjiang, you will always be accompanied by snow-capped peaks.

Leisure travel can be roughly divided into two regions: southern Xinjiang and northern Xinjiang. Southern Xinjiang focuses on local customs and is not limited by seasons; northern Xinjiang focuses on natural landscapes, with different beauty in different seasons.

Xinjiang’s autumn is like a painter’s palette knocked over by God, colorful. At this time, the 5th boundary marker in Baihaba, the northwesternmost village, is extremely beautiful. The Red Tree Gully in Koktokay is a season of alternating yellow and red around September 25th. There is also Baisha Lake, which looks like an oil painting in this season.

After a few autumn rains, the leaves of the birch forest in northern Xinjiang fall successively, with the trunks standing in the wind, presenting a melancholy and desolate oil painting effect. Go to the desert to see the thousand-year-old poplar forest. The blue sky, golden leaves, and the twisted trunks in various poses showcase its resilience and grandeur in the desert. In early October, the poplar forest in Mulei, northern Xinjiang, and in late October, the poplar forests in Luntai and Yuli, as well as Zepu Golden Lake Yang, a 5A scenic area in Kashgar, are waiting for you to appreciate their weathered beauty and glory.

In winter, Xinjiang becomes a world of ice and snow, with禾木’s icy fairy tale, Tianshan Tianchi icy style tourism, Kashgar folk customs tourism, etc. In addition, Xinjiang’s long winter is a paradise for outdoor sports enthusiasts such as skiing, ice skating, and desert hiking.
