The best travel season in Xinjiang: July, August, September, October
1. March-April: It is windy, with cold waves, and prone to gale-force winds and dust storms. Precipitation increases. At this time, going to southern Xinjiang is a good choice, with peach and apricot blossoms blooming, as well as the newly revived grasslands. You can enjoy wild apricot blossoms in places like Turpan and Shanshan.
2. June: In the Yili region, you can enjoy the flowers blooming all over the mountains and the most beautiful lavender (peak beauty in mid-June), but fruits and vegetables are not yet ripe at this time.
3. July-August: You can still see flowers blooming all over the mountains and vast grasslands with lush water plants. The mountainous areas are great summer resorts. At this time, the Naadam Festival and the Heavenly Horse Festival take place on the grasslands. However, lavender has already been harvested, and fruits and vegetables start to ripen in mid-August.
4. September to October: This is the most beautiful and harvesting season in Xinjiang, with comfortable weather. It is truly the golden autumn season with fragrant fruits and vegetables. Autumn’s Kanas is recognized as having the most beautiful autumn scenery in China. The Populus euphratica forests in southern Xinjiang also take on the colors of golden autumn, and fruits and vegetables are also in the harvest season. However, these two months are also the peak tourist season in Xinjiang, with corresponding increases in prices and ticket prices for attractions.
5. Winter: Temperatures can drop to minus 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. Many places are closed due to snow, and many attractions are also closed. However, this is the off-season for tourism, with lower prices and discounted tickets for some attractions. Some attractions are even free to visit, allowing you to see the snowy landscapes of northwest China. However, I believe that the viewing value in winter is not as good as that in summer and autumn.
Section 3: [Precautions for Traveling in Xinjiang]
1. ‘Wear a fur coat in the morning and a纱cloth in the afternoon, eat watermelon around the stove’ is a typical depiction of the climate in Xinjiang. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare for cold and heat prevention.
2. Xinjiang has long sunshine hours and high summer temperatures. Therefore, it is necessary to bring sunscreen items such as sunscreen lotion, sun umbrellas, and hats.
3. Xinjiang has a dry climate with strong winds and sandstorms. Female travelers are advised to prepare corresponding moisturizing and sunscreen cosmetics, carry enough water, and have a lip balm on hand.
5. Xinjiang has many scenic spots and attractions, many of which are along the way. Therefore, renting a car for self-guided travel is a good choice, offering freedom and flexibility, while saving time and allowing you to see more attractions.
