Old Town of Kashgar
Kashgar, full name Kashgar, means "green glazed tile house" or "place where jade gathers", and has a long history and culture. Due to the influence of the ancient Silk Road for thousands of years, it is full of rich Western Regions flavor. If a city has a soul, then the soul of Kashgar lies in the old town, in those ancient alleys that have gone through the vicissitudes of wind and rain, showing signs of wear and tear.
Taklamakan Desert
The Taklamakan Desert, located in the center of the Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang, is the largest desert in China and the tenth largest in the world. It is also the second largest mobile desert in the world. The entire desert stretches about 1,000 kilometers east to west and 400 kilometers north to south, covering an area of 330,000 square kilometers. Here, pyramid-shaped dunes stand 300 meters above the plains. Strong winds can blow up sand walls to three times their height. The dunes in the desert stretch continuously and often move due to the influence of the wind. During the day, the Taklamakan Desert is blazing hot, with silver sand glare and sand surface temperatures sometimes reaching 70 to 80 degrees Celsius. Vigorous evaporation makes surface features appear shifting, and desert travelers often see faint "mirages" in the distance.
Jiaohe Ancient City
It is the largest and oldest, best-preserved earthen architecture city in the world and also the most complete urban relic preserved for more than two thousand years in China.
Karakoram Highway (China-Pakistan Friendship Highway)
Also known as the Karakoram Highway, it is called the highest and most beautiful highway in the world. It starts from Kashgar in Xinjiang, China, and passes through the Karakoram Mountains, Hindu Kush Mountains, Pamir Plateau, and the western end of the Himalayas. It crosses the Khunjerab Pass at the China-Pakistan border and reaches Thakot in northern Pakistan. Driving along it, one can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the snowy plateau, including the famous "Father of Ices" Mount Muztagh Ata.
When the Karakoram Highway was built in the last century, about 700 people from both China and Pakistan lost their lives, equivalent to one life lost per kilometer of the highway.
Wensu Grand Canyon
Wensu Grand Canyon is the most beautiful Danxia geological wonder in western China and the largest rock salt karst geological attraction in China. It boasts rare ancient rock salt geological landscapes in China, unique Yadan geological landscapes in western China, and exclusive giant karst erosion geological secrets, earning it the title of "Living Geological Evolution Museum" of Xinjiang. A professional summary is not as good as a popular saying: Walking in Wensu Grand Canyon is like walking on Mars.
Hongqilafu
Adjacent to Pakistan, it is 125 kilometers north of Tashkurgan County and is an internationally open port approved by the state. Hongqilafu, meaning "Valley of Death" in Persian and "Blood-stained Passage" in Tajik… Here, "There are no flying birds in the sky, no grass on the ground, the wind blows stones, there is not enough oxygen, heavy snow in June, and cotton-padded clothes are worn all year round". It is called a "forbidden zone for life" by biologists and a "permafrost layer" by geologists…
Kuqa Grand Canyon
Kuqa Grand Canyon was discovered by a young Uyghur shepherd during his grazing in the midsummer of 1999. It was selected as one of "China’s Top Ten Most Beautiful Canyons" in 2003 and is a rare arid land natural scenic spot in China. The formation of the Grand Canyon occurred about 200 million years ago, with a total length of over 5,000 meters. The natural drop from the end of the canyon to the entrance is over 200 meters. The depth of the canyon is generally 150 to 200 meters, with the widest part of the canyon bottom being 53 meters and the narrowest part being 0.4 meters. It is a typical slot-type gorge that only allows one person to pass through by bowing their head and body;
Precautions
1. Obey the leader’s instructions and do not go alone;
2. The climate in mountainous areas is unpredictable. Xinjiang has a continental arid climate with large diurnal temperature variations and strong ultraviolet rays. Be sure to do a good job of keeping warm and sunscreen;
3. Most of the areas along the route are ethnic minority areas. Respect their religious beliefs to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings;
4. If you need to take photos of locals, please be sure to obtain their consent first;
5. After eating fresh fruits, please do not drink hot tea to avoid diarrhea;
6. There is a 2-hour time difference between Xinjiang and Beijing, so there may be differences in diet and sleep time;
7. Both mobile and telecom signals are available, but may be unstable during the trip;
8. This organization advocates environmental protection. All garbage generated during the activity must be taken away. Do not destroy plants in the forest, do not litter, and maintain the glorious image of team members;
9. This activity area has charming scenery, but the infrastructure is relatively backward. The accommodation and catering conditions cannot be compared with developed eastern regions. Some hotels may not provide disposable toiletries. Please bring your own toiletries;
10. Xinjiang’s road conditions vary greatly, and driving times are long. Please be psychologically prepared. In case of traffic control or other force majeure factors, the leader has the right to make appropriate adjustments to the itinerary, all based on the principles of enjoying oneself and safety;
11. Due to long driving hours and heavy vehicle load, in case of non-human factors such as car breakdowns or temporary malfunctions affecting the itinerary, the organizer will actively respond and handle it quickly to ensure the safety and itinerary of the members.
