Turpan Seven Springs Lake Danxia
Known in the outdoor community as Chidaofeng Grand Canyon and Huolonggu Grand Canyon, standing at the top of the canyon and looking out, the red cliffs are colorful, with hundreds of tributaries winding and twisting, presenting rich and varied shapes.
Driving from Urumqi, take Lianhuo Expressway and exit at Daheyan Interchange, heading towards Daheyan. Turn into XD59, and after passing Taogergou Station, take the road about 10 kilometers down and drive for another 10 kilometers to arrive. The total distance is over 200 kilometers and takes about three and a half hours.
Manas River Baili Danxia
Located upstream of the Manas River, spanning tens of kilometers, the coastline features spectacular canyon and river scenery. There isn’t much vegetation, but it contrasts beautifully with the bright Danxia colors, creating striking hues. Baili Danxia spans Hutubi, Manas, and extends to Kuitun. This classic self-drive tour route is over 100 kilometers long, with the core section in Hutubi.
Drive south along the border between Manas and Shihezi, pass Liangzhouhu Town and continue forward. Follow Taxihe southwards and drive for another 20 kilometers to arrive.
Nuerjia Danxia
Nuerjia Grand Canyon, hidden deep in the Tianshan Mountains of northern Xinjiang, was discovered by accident. It is full of cliffs, strange peaks, rugged landscapes, and dangerous gorges, coupled with the colorful Danxia scenery, creating a very magical atmosphere.
Nuerjia Grand Canyon is located in the southwest of Changji City. From Changji City, drive west along National Highway 312, turn south towards Ashili Township, or take the Urumqi-Kuqa Expressway and turn south at Awetan Intersection. Alternatively, from Sangong Town, Changji City, drive west to Ashili Township and pass through the colorful gate of Nuerjia Village to arrive.
Anjihai Danxia
Anjihai Grand Canyon, located west of Anjihai Town, Shawan County, Tacheng Prefecture, is a famous Danxia scenic area. The canyon has both the breathtaking grandeur of nature and the cinematic visual impact, coupled with ever-changing lighting, resembling a colorful abstract painting.
Driving along National Highway G312 westwards for about 40 kilometers, pass Anjihai Chili Market and Bortonggu Resort gate, and after 2-3 kilometers, you will see a large T-shaped intersection. Turn south towards Hongshan Old Coal Mine and drive for 50 kilometers to arrive.
Dushanzi Danxia
Dushanzi Danxia became famous due to photographers’ beautiful pictures. The entire canyon starts from the foot of the mountain and forms a层次分明 colored soil layer on the grassland. Rainwater and snowmelt from both sides of the valley gather at the bottom, forming small ponds. Various dissolved minerals in the ponds make the water present different colors, colorful and dazzling.
Driving from Dushanzi District of Karamay City along National Highway G312, turn south at the intersection at K4410 km, take Dushanzi to National Highway G217, and turn west at K566 km. Drive for another 12 kilometers to arrive.
Wensu Danxia
Wensu Grand Canyon boasts the unique Danxia geological landscape of western China and rare ancient rock salt geological scenery, locally known as ‘Kuduluk Grand Canyon’. Its magnificent beauty will be deeply impressed in tourists’ hearts. It’s beyond words and can only be felt when one is actually there.
The Grand Canyon is located about 80 kilometers northeast of Wensu County and about 30 kilometers away from National Highway 314 by car.
