  2. Keep warm. The temperature difference between morning and night is very large. It can reach thirty to forty degrees Celsius in the urban area, but due to the higher latitude of some scenic spots, the temperature can also drop to below zero.

  3. This place belongs to the north and is extremely dry. Be sure to moisturize. The ultraviolet rays are particularly strong! Wear sunscreen. I applied sunscreen every day and still got tanned by two shades after a week!

The best tourist season for Xinjiang is from May to October. The temperature is suitable during this time (some scenic spots are closed in winter due to snow). In May, you can go to Ili to see the lavender fields; in June, you can experience the perfect fusion of snow-capped mountains and flower seas at Sayram Lake; in July and August, you can admire the vast and fertile grasslands; in September and October, the golden autumn scenery of Kanas is even more breathtaking. However, it should be noted that the temperature difference between morning and night in Xinjiang is large, which is truly ‘wearing a cotton-padded jacket in the morning and a gauze shirt in the afternoon, eating watermelon by the fireplace’.

Xinjiang is vast, and most of its magnificent scenery is far apart. You can rent a car for self-driving tours in remote areas. Nowadays, most well-known tourist attractions have direct flights. If you have sufficient funds, you can choose to fly; buses are a waste of time.

April in Alemaleke—the True Apricot Blossom Village

Perhaps you’ve heard that the apricot blossoms in Ili are beautiful, but you definitely don’t know that the truly spectacular apricot blossoms are located in a forgotten ancient village on the roof of the world plateau—Alemaleke Xinghua Village.

Just like the Peach Blossom Spring described by Tao Yuanming, the road to Xinghua Village is difficult to traverse and daunting, but when you enter Xinghua Village, your eyes will suddenly be enlightened.

  Guozigou in June

Known as the ‘First Scenery of Ili’, Guozigou has been praised in ancient poems for its ‘breathtaking landscape, comparable to Guilin, and strange cliffs, superior to Yanyan Rock’. When traveling by car from Urumqi to Yining, Guozigou is a must-pass route, with National Highway 312 winding and extending through the valley. In spring and summer, it is a beautiful valley in western Xinjiang.

Trollius in June at Sayram Lake

Known as the ‘last tear of the Atlantic Ocean’, Sayram Lake is a place favored by the warm and wet air currents from the Atlantic Ocean. The continuous snow-capped mountains by the lake are reflected in the azure lake water. The scenery of Sayram Lake captured by the lens resembles the风光 along the Alps.

  July in Zhaosu

In midsummer July, the vast Zhaosu Grassland at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, with its endless blooming rapeseed flowers, blue sky, white clouds, snow-capped mountains, and yellow flowers, is a silent masterpiece of great beauty.

Zhaosu is a major rapeseed flower production area in Xinjiang, with a cultivation area of millions of mu, and is known as the ‘Hometown of Rapeseed in China’. Every July is the rapeseed flower blooming season. The endless yellow flowers are like a golden ocean, sweeping across the vast grasslands, reflecting the Tianshan Mountains in the distance, making it a spectacular western scenery. Stepping into such a sea of rapeseed flowers is like entering a vast dream—the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Tianshan Mountains are faintly visible, the sky is deep blue and transparent, and the path ahead has disappeared into the golden sea of flowers; vehicles are like boats, ‘floating’ in the waves of flowers; on the endless horizon, the rapeseed flowers and shelterbelt forests depict an idyllic poetic scenery. The ‘picturesque scenery’ under the sunshine is like a dream.Travel guide for July in Xinjiang, recommended attractions in Xinjiang in July, routes in July
