Perhaps many people around us have traveled to many places, leaving footprints in China, Southeast Asia, and even Europe, but have never been to Xinjiang in our motherland. Maybe you’ve seen pictures of Xinjiang in a travel magazine or on a photographer friend’s camera and want to come to Xinjiang to see it for yourself, but you don’t know how to get here or how much it will cost?
How much does it cost to go to Xinjiang?
As everyone knows, Xinjiang is in the northwest of China and borders eight countries, so the flight time from most regions in China to Xinjiang is over 4 hours, making it relatively far and therefore the cost is relatively high. However, you can book in advance or follow some special fare websites for airline tickets to get relatively cheaper tickets. The discounted round-trip price is generally around 2000-3000 yuan. Partners who have relatively ample time and want to enjoy the scenery along the way can also choose to take the train. Most train tickets to Xinjiang are priced between 600-800 yuan, with a journey time of around 40 hours!
As the largest province in China, the distance between each location and attraction in Xinjiang is measured in hundreds of kilometers, with a journey of around three to four hours considered short. The train network in Xinjiang does not cover the entire province and only operates at major attractions, so journeys are all over 8 hours, relatively far. Partners with sufficient budgets can also choose to take domestic flights in Xinjiang to various attractions (Xinjiang has a total of 22 airports). There are flights from Urumqi to Kanas, Nalati, Kashgar, etc., all within 1000 yuan if booked in advance. You can refer to train fares for comparison.
Urumqi – Kanas hard sleeper – 184. Urumqi – Turpan high-speed train – second-class seat – 52, express train – 243. Urumqi – Kashgar hard sleeper – 305. Urumqi – Yining hard sleeper – 145. Urumqi – Hotan hard sleeper – 370
Regarding accommodation costs in Xinjiang
During peak seasons, it is difficult to find accommodation in Xinjiang, and there will be almost no rooms available if not booked in advance (especially for the Kanas route). Prices will also soar, so it is recommended that everyone must make reservations in advance. However, do not be tempted to book overly cheap hotels for convenience. In Urumqi, budget hotels such as 7 Days Inn, Home Inn, and Hanting Hotel can be booked in advance for under 200 yuan. High-end hotels such as Xinjiang Zunmao Yindu Hotel, Urumqi Bingtuan Grand Hotel, Xinjiang Tianyuan Hotel, and Urumqi Ruihao International Hotel have reservation prices around 600 yuan. When in Xinjiang, it is recommended to try staying in yurts and wooden cabins. Yurts cost between 300-500 yuan per tent and can accommodate 10 people. Wooden cabins are also a specialty in Xinjiang, with prices in Kanas ranging from 400-700 yuan and those in Hemu ranging from 200-600 yuan.
