[In Mongolian, it means ‘beautiful and fertile, mysterious and unpredictable’. The Kanas Lake scenic area in Northern Xinjiang covers an area of 435 square kilometers, located on the north side of the park by Kanas Lake. Then, take a sightseeing bus to visit scenic areas such as Moon Bay in sequence.
The Altay Grasslands have a deep and azure sky, with a clear hierarchy of blue sky and white clouds; the winding river flows with murmuring water; among the emerald green mountains, green pine trees stand tall; in the distance, the glinting glacier and snowy peaks are desirable yet unreachable. Everything is so primitive, quiet, serene, and harmonious. Looking at Kanas Lake from a distance, the lake water emerges from the stone forest. Whenever the morning sun or evening glow shines, the clouds and mist create a splendid view. There is a pedestrian path along the riverbank for tourists to enjoy the scenery and rest. The main tributary of the Burqin River originates from the changes of Kanas Lake water. The Moon Bay winds and twists through the valley, with the water surface as smooth as a mirror. This Moon Bay is like a long blue ribbon, making people reluctant to leave. The spring water filtered through the rock fissures of the rocky slope on the east side of the highway at an altitude of 1500 meters is called the Holy Spring by people.
When I was at Kanas Lake, I was also moved by this magnificent scenery and recited a poem: ‘Who knows the beautiful scenery in the Western Regions, believing that the East Wind is not sentimental. There are three hundred round and square ponds, and one pond of clear spring water is flat’. Looking back at the long road we came, with snow-capped mountains, green grass, and blue lake water, it is really like a poem, as if shuttling through a dream. Closing my eyes, I sigh at how time flies. Kanas, truly a fairyland on earth!
