The upgraded New Oriental Express consists of 18 carriages, including 8 Golden Diamond carriages and 10 Blue Diamond carriages. Each Golden Diamond carriage accommodates 8 passengers, including 4 double suites with a double bed, desk, wardrobe, safe, and private bathroom; each Blue Diamond carriage has 28 passengers, consisting of 7 quad boxes with bunk beds, shared bathrooms and showers. The train is also equipped with dining cars, bar cars, and other functional carriages.
