Introduction to Urumqi
Urumqi is located in northwest China, in the center of Xinjiang, and in the hinterland of the Eurasian continent. It sits at the northern foothills of the Northern Tianshan Mountains and in the southern Junggar Basin. To the east, it borders Turpan City along the Chakmak Tag to Daheyan line; to the west, it borders Changji City with Toutun River as the boundary; to the south, it borders the Nanshan Mining Area with Karatag-Kizileyi, with a protruding part turning southeast and connecting with Tuksun County along the Undilok-Ala Valley to the east.
