Afterwards, return to Yining downtown and head to the online celebrity destination [Liuxing Street] (visit for about 60 minutes). Stepping into Liuxing Street, you can encounter different scenes everywhere. Large patches of bright ‘Yili Blue’, melodious accordion music, joyful singing, the sweet aroma of Russian bread, the mellow aroma of coffee, mixed with the cumin scent of grilled meat… From sight, taste to smell and hearing, it is a unique travel experience. Afterwards, check into the hotel.

It has been named by the country as the ‘Hometown of Wild Cherry Plum in China’. The scenic area boasts charming scenery throughout the four seasons. Walking along the mountain trail, you can take in a panoramic view of Daxigou.
Later, visit the [Sayram Lake], anciently known as the ‘Pure Sea’. It is the last place favored by the Atlantic warm and moist air currents in Xinjiang, earning it the nickname ‘the last tear of the Atlantic’. Arriving here feels like a dream, with extremely clear lake water that allows you to see large and small gray stones on the lakebed. The lake is surrounded by mountains on both banks, with lush green grasslands, dense trees, and flowers everywhere on the mountains. These beautiful scenery weave a magnificent wreath for Sayram Lake, making it look like an emerald sleeping at the foot of the mountain. Afterwards, take a special train to Korla!

Arrive at Korla Station in the morning and proceed to [Lop Nur Village] by car (approx. 2-hour drive), located on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert. The village covers an area of 72 square kilometers and is a hidden paradise inhabited by the Lop people. The village area encompasses the Taklamakan Desert, wandering lakes, the Tarim River, primitive poplar forests, grasslands, and Lop people. Deserts, inland rivers, green corridors, and the Silk Road converge here, forming a natural landscape of golden quality. The Lop people are one of the older ethnic groups in Xinjiang. They live beside small lakes in the Tarim River basin and "do not farm grains or herd livestock, but only fish in small boats for food". As we continue deeper inside, we can see large areas of poplar trees along the Tarim River, and then arrive at the vast and boundless "largest desert in China", the Taklamakan Desert. Here, you can ride camels (personal entertainment activity, at own expense). Capture vivid camel shadows in the desert and the spectacular desert sunset.

4.24 Day06: Kashgar – Tashkurgan County – Kalakuli Lake – Stone City, Golden Grassland – Tashkurgan

Kalakuli Lake means "Black Sea", with an altitude of 3,600 meters, a depth of 30 meters, and a total area of approximately 10 square kilometers. It is a rare plateau lake in the world, surrounded by ice peaks and snowy mountains. You can get a close view of the world-famous peaks over 7,000 meters high – the Three Heroes of Kunlun, such as Kongur Tag (7,719m), Kongur Jobe (7,530m), and Muztagh Ata (7,546m). These three mountains stand tall like celestial pillars, majestic on the Pamir Plateau. Afterwards, head to [Stone City], located on the north side of Tashkurgan County, which is a famous ancient city site on the ancient Silk Road. With an altitude of 3,700 meters, it commands a strategic location and has a magnificent appearance. From the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, it was continuously expanded and garrisoned, with the highest part of the city wall reaching over 20 meters. Outside the city, there are multiple layers of continuous or intermittent city walls, with stone hills and piles of rocks between the walls, forming a unique landscape of Stone City. In the early Yuan Dynasty, Stone City underwent extensive construction and expansion, giving the old Stone City a new look. In the 28th year of the Guangxu period, the Qing court established the Puli Prefecture here and repaired the castle. After that, proceed to [Golden Grassland]. Aral Golden Grassland is next to Tashkurgan County and below Stone City. The Tashkurgan River flows through here. The lush grassland is dotted with cattle and sheep, blending beautifully with the distant snowy mountains, white clouds, and blue sky. Whenever the sunset shines, the green grassland turns golden, and in the distance, the white yurts and sheep are bathed in the sunset, creating a very beautiful scene. Here, local ethnic minorities have organized a splendid ethnic song and dance performance exclusively for the guests of the New Oriental Express for everyone to enjoy and participate in.
4.25 Day07: Tashkurgan – Tajik Family Visit – Baisha Lake – Kashgar
After breakfast, visit a [Tajik Family]. The Tajik ethnic group belongs to the Europoid race, the Indian-Mediterranean type. ‘Tajik’ is the self-designation of this ethnic group, meaning ‘crown’. The origins of the Tajik ethnic group can be traced back to several centuries BC, among the Iranian-speaking tribes distributed in the eastern Pamir Plateau. The Tajik ethnic group has its own language, belonging to the Pamir branch of the Iranian language family of the Indo-European language system. It is divided into two dialects: Selekur Tajik and Wahkan Tajik. Due to frequent ethnic interactions, many Tajiks in Xinjiang are also proficient in Uyghur and Kyrgyz languages and commonly use Uyghur script.
Later, visit [Baisha Lake] and explore布伦口Baisha Lake. Baisha Lake and Baisha Mountain are closely adjacent to each other, like lovers guarding the sacred mountains and waters of the Pamir Plateau. The scenery is magnificent and extraordinary! Then return to Kashgar by car, and enjoy authentic Uyghur cuisine for dinner.
4.26 Day08: Kashgar City – New Oriental Express – Kuqa
After breakfast, visit [Kashgar Old City] and watch the city-opening ceremony: Kashgar Old City has a history of over 2,000 years. It was once the king’s city of the ancient Western Regions’ Shule Kingdom. The old city’s streets and alleys are crisscrossed, leading to secluded spots. Most of the residences are built with earth, wood, and brick, and it is currently the largest existing earth architecture group in the world.
The Uyghur ethnic group lives here. They are good at singing and dancing, and have preserved rich ethnic customs and traditions. Kashgar Old City is the most ethnic-flavored attraction in southern Xinjiang. Photos taken from every angle will make for stunning pictures, definitely worth your while to linger on; after lunch, continue to visit [Id Kah Mosque]: The mosque was first built in 1442 and occupies a total area of 16,800 square meters. It is not only the largest mosque in Xinjiang but also the largest mosque in China; visit the [Xiangfei Garden]. The Apak Hoja Tomb and Xiangfei Tomb are located in the eastern suburbs of Kashgar City and are a typical Islamic ancient architectural complex built around 1640. It is said that there are 72 people from five generations of the same family buried inside. It is named after Apak Hoja, a famous master of the Yichan sect of Islam in Kashgar during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. After dinner, take the New Oriental Express to Kuqa.
4.27 Day09: Tianshan Mysterious Grand Canyon – Kuqa王府 – Hotan Old Street – New Oriental Express
Arrive in Kuqa and visit the [Tianshan Mysterious Grand Canyon], [Kuqa王府], and [Hotan Old Street]. After dinner, board the New Oriental Express to Urumqi.
[Tianshan Mysterious Grand Canyon]: Surrounded by mountains in the southern foothills of Tianshan, the Tianshan Mysterious Grand Canyon combines the wonders of earthly canyons with the beauty of Tianshan scenery, embodying ancient spirituality and integrating the elements of mystery, uniqueness, danger, grandeur, history, and tranquility. The scenery is extraordinary and fascinating. The red mountain ranges of the Mysterious Grand Canyon were formed during the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic Era, about 140 million years ago. After millions of years of wind erosion, rain erosion, and flood erosion, they have formed crisscrossing and orderly ridges and grooves, leaving people marveling at the ingenuity of nature and the natural formation of wonderful scenery. In particular, the three mountain bodies at the entrance of the canyon (Naitou Mountain, Liren Mountain, and Buddha Face Mountain) are the most spectacular.
[Kuqa王府] occupies an area of 40,000 square meters, showcasing architectural features of Central Plains Han culture, Uyghur culture, and Islamic style. Here, you can feel the luxury of the Qianlong period and experience the long history of 190 years of the 12 generations of hereditary "Kuqa Kings". Inside Kuqa王府, there are exhibition areas such as the王府 exhibition hall, the Qiuci Museum exhibition hall, and ancient city walls.
[Hotan Old Street]: Hotan in Uyghur means marketplace, and this area has always been the bustling commercial center of Kuqa, a popular destination for online influencers! Stepping into it, a strong ethnic flavor greets you: in the quaint old street, colorful doors and windows decorate the earth-toned streets, creating a historical feel without lacking vividness. Green plants and fruit trees are planted on both sides of the street, showcasing how much this nation loves life! At a glance, various scattered shops, buildings with textured patterns, time-honored brands, and authentic snack bars… The scenery on the old street makes people more and more reluctant to leave. Here, you can feel the living conditions and original appearance of Western Region civilization, imagine the prosperity and hustle and bustle of the Han and Tang dynasties, and even briefly immerse yourself as a local, becoming a part of ancient Kucha. After dinner, board the private train to Urumqi.
