Located in the secluded valley at the foot of Quetage Mountain in the Kizil Township between Kuqa and Baicheng, the Thousand Buddha Caves are on the reddish brown cliff wall of Mingwudage Mountain on the north bank of the Muzhati River, about 7 kilometers south of Kizil Township. It has extremely high artistic value and can be called the ‘Second Dunhuang Mogao Caves’.​
