Xinjiang is located in the northwest border of our country, with beautiful cities such as Urumqi, and it is the largest provincial-level administrative region in terms of area in our country. I believe many people want to visit Xinjiang or go take a look. Below, I will introduce some travel tips for visiting Xinjiang in September.
First, you need to arrive in Xinjiang to start your tour. I took a plane to get there. As for other routes, I won’t say much; each place is different and needs to be planned accordingly. Let me mention first that in many places in Xinjiang, it doesn’t get light until after 8 am, which is a bit different from places in central China. Everyone should take note. Going to Xinjiang in October is good. The weather in the early part of the month is pleasant, neither too cold nor too hot. Bring some autumn clothes, and don’t bring too many thick clothes. If it’s the late October, then cold air will strike, and in special cases, there may even be some snowfall. Bring thicker clothes then.
The first place I recommend everyone to visit is the Tianshan Tianchi Scenic Area. It centers around Tianchi Lake, which you must go see; it is really too beautiful! It also includes the Bogda Peak North Slope Touring Area, the Great Tianchi North Slope Touring Area, the Great Tianchi Touring Area, the Ten Thousand Arhat Nirvana Wood Mountain Touring Area, and the Niangniang Temple Touring Area. You can visit them all after buying the ticket. October belongs to the peak season.
The second recommendation is Hongshan. It is located in the center of Urumqi, Xinjiang. From afar, it looks like a huge dragon lying there, with a magnificent appearance. On the peak of Hongshan is a Dragon-Suppressing Tower, a nearly 8-meter-tall grayish-blue solid brick tower! After arriving in Urumqi, take a bus to Hongshan Park and you will arrive at Hongshan (e.g., Bus 61). By the way, the tickets to Hongshan are free!
The third recommendation is the Shuimogou Scenic Area. Its terrain can be described as very unique, located in the峡谷 (gorge) of a strange earthquake fault zone, stretching for more than 1 kilometer. There are also many hot springs within the scenic area, which have certain therapeutic effects on arthritis, skin diseases, etc. You know what I mean. There are also many temples within the scenic area. You can take a bus in Urumqi to get there (e.g., Bus 4), and the ticket price is only 5 yuan.
The next one is the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Museum. If you come to Xinjiang and don’t visit the museum, it would be a real pity. Whenever I travel to a new place, I always visit the museum. This Xinjiang museum displays ancient historical artifacts of Xinjiang, and the museum tickets are free. You can get tickets with your ID.
