With the arrival of the peak tourist season in Xinjiang, famous tourist attractions in Northern Xinjiang such as Kanas, Nalati, Sayram Lake, and Bayinbuluke have become popular choices for domestic tourism. The Xinjiang Railway Department has launched the “Magnificent Xinjiang” tourist train for the fourth consecutive year from early July to late August, designing two routes: Route A (Kanas, Nalati, Sayram Lake) and Route B (Kanas, Nalati, Sayram Lake, Bayinbuluke) for the “Magnificent Xinjiang” Northern Xinjiang Circular Route. These tourist trains offer five-night six-day and six-night seven-day quality tourism products, allowing tourists from home and abroad to explore Xinjiang by train, greatly accommodating tourists’ needs for long-distance and convenient travel.
With three years of operation experience, the “Magnificent Xinjiang” tourist train has integrated travel, transportation, and regional advantages, realizing a new tourism industry model featuring multiple scenery spots along one route, trains moving alongside scenery, and trains following tourists. In addition to continuing to maintain the travel characteristics of “one berth for round trip without transfer, and a leisurely travel itinerary” this year, the “Magnificent Xinjiang” tourist train has also rearranged and combined tourist routes to famous tourist attractions such as Kanas Lake, Sayram Lake, Nalati Grasslands, and Bayinbuluke Swan Lake in Northern Xinjiang. D1 Urumqi – Yining City (one-way about 700 kilometers, about 12 hours)
In the evening, take the air-conditioned hard sleeper train at Urumqi New Station (High-Speed Railway Station) to Yining City, the region south of the Great Wall known as the ‘Jiangnan of the Northwest.’ (Distance: 614KM) Overnight stay on the air-conditioned train. (The specific train number and schedule are subject to the notice by the staff before 12:00 PM on the day of departure.)

D2 Yining – Nalati – Yining (one-way car journey of about 260 kilometers, taking about 3.5 hours)
Early morning pick-up at the train station (please wash up on the train in advance) and take a tour bus to the world’s four major alpine valley grasslands—[National AAAAA-level scenic area Nalati] (entrance ticket included). Along the way, mountain flowers bloom, butterflies flutter among the peaks, and tents dot the landscape. You can also see small patches of poplar forests and feel the resilient life and unyielding demeanor of poplars. Pass by the Wusu Ancient Tomb Group; along the way, enjoy the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Gongnais Valley. Arrive in Nalati Town for lunch. After lunch, take the scenic area’s [valley grassland shuttle bus] (fare included) to the Nalati scenic area to experience Kazakh folk customs (visit time is about 3.5 hours, including the time to enter and exit the scenic area with the valley shuttle bus). Friendly Reminder:
1. The temperature on the grassland is relatively low, so be prepared for cold protection. Even in the summer months of July, August, and September, the nighttime temperature is also relatively low.
2. The Swan Lake area is a grassland wetland marsh. Do not get too close to the swans out of curiosity and fall into the marsh. It is better to have a local guide lead the way.
D3 Yining – Sayram Lake – Horgos – Yining (one-way distance from Yining to Sayram Lake is 170KM, taking 2.5 to 3 hours) – Beitun City
Early in the morning, take a vehicle to Sayram Lake, and on the way, visit the complimentary [Lavender Manor for about 60 minutes]. Lavender belongs to the genus Lavandula in the Lamiaceae family in botanical classification. Lavender is an important aromatic economic plant with evergreen foliage and fragrant scent throughout the year. Its flowers are usually purple, blue, pink, white, and other colors, making it highly ornamental. It is a plant material used for arranging flower beds, flower covers, and creating flower sea landscapes. Additionally, it has good medicinal, healthcare, and chemical industrial practical values. Then pass through the scenic beauty of [Guozigou, the First Pass of Yili] (no stopping due to traffic reasons) to arrive at Sayram Lake, located at a high altitude in the Tian Shan Mountains and known as the "Western Region’s Pearl" due to its large area—[Sayram Lake with entrance ticket included, visit for about 2 hours] (complimentary lake cruise fee of 100 yuan/person). Sayram Lake is surrounded by mountains, with the water reflecting the sky. In spring, wildflowers are everywhere; in summer, the grass is lush, horses gallop, and cows and sheep are like clouds; the lake is embraced by green mountains, with towering pine and cypress trees at the foot of the mountains, and clouds and fog shrouding the mountainsides, creating a shared color between the sky and water, like a poetic scroll filled with grandeur and clarity. Afterwards, head to Horgos City, a newly established city in the northwest corner of China, about 100 kilometers away, with a driving time of 1.5 hours. Visit the [border trade market at the Horgos Port, one of China’s three major land trade ports] (self-paid for the boundary monument and shuttle bus ticket at 60 yuan/person) for about 30 minutes. Experience the prosperity of Sino-Kazakhstan trade. After that, return to Yining by vehicle (60 kilometers, 1.5 hours needed). On the way, optionally visit the [Ancient City of Huiyuan], where two stone lions lie prone at the entrance, combining the delicate form of southern stone lions with the rugged carving techniques of Xinjiang. Inside the courtyard, towering ancient trees stand, with four of them serving as living witnesses to history. Standing in the forecourt and looking ahead, it seems like a messenger is galloping on a horse to deliver war news. In the center of the Ancient City of Huiyuan stands a magnificent and towering bell and drum tower. From the top of the tower, one can take in the scenery inside and outside the city at a glance. Arrive in Yining and transfer to the Yining Railway Station for the trip to Beitun City.
D4 Beitun – Kanas (one-way 240KM mountain road, about 5 hours by car)
The tour guide will start holding signs to pick up passengers at the exit one after another. Please wash up on the train in advance; (the contact information of the tour guide: our company will arrange for the tour guide to contact you the day before and inform you of the content on the pick-up sign and the contact number). Then take the bus to the restaurant for breakfast, and after breakfast, take the bus to [Kanas Scenic Area] (about 240 kilometers, about 5 hours’ drive). On the way, you will pass by Colorful Beach, which you can visit at your own expense with a complimentary ticket ([120 yuan/person, about 30 minutes of visit]). Colorful Beach is a national 4A scenic area. For lunch, have lunch in Jiadengyu. After lunch, proceed to the Kanas ticket station [including the first-entry ticket and round-trip shuttle bus, about 4 hours of visit]. Upon arrival at the entrance of Kanas Scenic Area, take the shuttle bus to enter Kanas National Geopark. Overlook Kanas Lake, explore the mystery of the lake monster, and take a distant view of Friendship Peak. Climbing up to the Fish Viewing Terrace is the exclamation mark at the end of your Kanas tour. Not climbing the Fish Viewing Terrace is not enough to appreciate the ultimate beauty of Kanas; not climbing the Fish Viewing Terrace is even more insufficient to comprehend the true meaning of life. Gather within the scenic area and take the shuttle bus back to Jiadenyu. After lunch in Jiadenyu, return to Beitun to see off the train.

Arriving at Hemu scenic area, Hemu township is the northernmost township in western China. The Tuwa people, who maintain the most complete ethnic traditions, live and concentrate here—Hemu Village, which is one of the famous Tuwa villages and also the farthest and largest of the only three remaining Tuwa villages (Hemu Village, Kanas Village, and Baihaba Village). Hemu’s natural and primitive mountainous scenery is uniquely beautiful. The Hemu River flows from northeast to southwest, and the primitive village harmoniously integrates with the vast grassland.
