Due to Xinjiang’s vast territory, beautiful scenery tends to be scattered, which increases the time we spend on the road. Therefore, when traveling to Xinjiang, I recommend taking a chartered car to tour the beautiful scenery of Xinjiang. This can save time, avoid the trouble of finding and taking a car, planning the itinerary, etc., and also allows for better enjoyment of the scenery along the way, coming into close contact with the beautiful views! There is a scenic area in Xinjiang named the Wonderful Tianshan Grand Canyon. One doesn’t truly appreciate the uniqueness of nature until visiting the Tianshan Grand Canyon. The Wonderful Tianshan Grand Canyon is sufficiently enchanting with just the word "wonderful" to inspire longing. After millions of years of erosion and scouring by wind, frost, rain, and snow, and after relentless refining and washing away by time, nature inadvertently carved and polished the grandeur and majesty of the Wonderful Tianshan Grand Canyon. It combines majesty, danger, tranquility, seclusion, and mystique. The canyon winds, cliffs surge, and peculiar peaks tower. The reddish-brown mountain bodies are even more awe-inspiring, and those who experience it in person cannot help but marvel at its beauty!
The Kanas Natural Landscape Reserve is located in the northwest of Burqin, in the deep mountains and dense forests at the northwestern end of the Altai Mountains in China. It is a standout among the scenic and tourism resources of Altay and can be called the "Pearl of Altai Mountain Tourism". This scenic area is a forest-type comprehensive nature reserve and is the only European-Siberian Taiga "enclave" in China. The Kanas River is the main river within the reserve, running from northeast to southwest across the entire area and flowing into the Burqin River. Due to intense glacial erosion, Akkule Lake and Kanas Lake, formed by the widening and deepening of alpine rivers, resemble two giant mirrors inlaid in a string-like pattern in the central zone of the Kanas Nature Reserve. They are alpine freshwater lakes. Kanas Lake is shaped like a crescent moon, 24 kilometers long from north to south and 1.6 to 2.9 kilometers wide from east to west, with an area of 44.78 square kilometers, which is ten times larger than the famous Bogda Heavenly Lake. With a maximum depth of 188.5 meters, except for the Baekdu Mountain Heavenly Lake on the China-North Korea border (312.7 meters deep), Kanas Lake is surrounded by mountains, peaks, and snow-capped ridges. The peaks are cloaked in silver, the forests are dense, the meadows are lush, the hillsides are verdant, the lake surface is rippling, and the mountains are reflected in the lake, blending the blue sky, white clouds, snowy peaks, green mountains, and clear water into one harmonious scene, presenting a breathtakingly beautiful lakeside landscape.
In people’s impression, most of the mountainous areas in Xinjiang are mainly arid deserts with little rainfall and water scarcity. But as the old saying goes, ‘Where there is a valley, there must be a stream.’ Every summer, when other places are unbearably hot, the valleys are unusually cool. All this may be related to their mysterious streams. Inside the valleys, you often see streams as thin as paper flowing quietly, only to disappear at your feet in a moment. Some say it’s groundwater overflowing to form streams on the ground, but no one knows why they disappear silently and suddenly.
In general, the tourist season in Xinjiang is from May to October each year, with the best travel season being July, August, and September. If you want to chase the beautiful scenery of Xinjiang, choose to go in September. At the end of September, Kanas, Hemu, Baihaba, Baishahu, and Keketohai will present a rich palette of colors, with birch trees turning golden yellow, European aspens turning red, and tall pine trees still maintaining their green hue. From May to June is a good time to photograph the grassland, flowers, swans, and herdsmen’s migration. From June to July, the Ili Grassland is colorful, and you can see large fields of lavender and rapeseed flowers. From July to August is the time for mountain climbing activities and visiting the Pamir Plateau. In mid-August, the grapes in Turpan ripen, and it’s a good time to eat melons and fruits. The Taklamakan Desert and Daheyan are suitable for exploration from mid-March to May and from September to November (the surface temperature can still reach 55 degrees Celsius). October is suitable for exploration in Lop Nur and the Loulan area. From June to August is also suitable for traveling and photography in Kanas. At the beginning of October, the herdsmen’s migration is spectacular. Around National Day, the mature autumn colors in Northern Xinjiang, especially in the Altay region, and the golden胡杨林in the desert in mid-to-late October are beautiful, and the photos taken are also colorful and enticing. In winter, it’s a great choice to come to Urumqi to play in the snow or go to the Fuyun and Ili regions to photograph winter scenery.
The Bayanbulak Grassland in Xinjiang, covering an area of 22,000 square kilometers, is the second largest grassland in China. It boasts magnificent scenery. Swan Lake in the depths of the grassland is a famous wild swan reserve in China. The blue sky, green grass, yaks, yurts, lakes, sheep flocks, swans, and snow-capped mountains here constitute a beautiful landscape painting. To see the desert scenery in Xinjiang, you should visit the Taklamakan Desert, the world’s second-largest shifting desert. The Taklamakan Desert is the first choice for adventure tourism. When traveling in Xinjiang, you should also learn about Hotan jade. When traveling in Xinjiang, buy Hotan jade. Hotan in Xinjiang is rich in beautiful jade, especially the white nephrite, which is precious. Currently, only Hotan in Xinjiang has this variety, and it has always been used by the imperial court.
