Tiemen Pass: One of the 26 famous passes in ancient China, it is located in the northern suburbs of Korla and is a strategically important pass for north-south transportation, as well as the throat of the ancient Silk Road’s middle route. The current Tiemen Pass gateway is a newly-built archaistic brick and wood gateway, with surrounding entertainment facilities such as a hydropower station and water yachts.
Kongque River: The mother river of Korla, with its only source coming from Bosten Lake. The trees on both banks of the river are lush, making it one of the most beautiful scenic spots in the city. The Kongque River flows down from Bosten Lake, passing through the middle of the city, with a dedicated swan viewing plaza.
Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture Museum: One of the larger museums exhibiting cultural relics in Xinjiang, it displays a large number of local archaeological discoveries such as stone tools, ironware, bronzeware, documents and classics, household utensils, ancient mummies, swords, armor, and more. It is an excellent place to understand the history and culture of Bayingolin.
Bayinbuluke Scenic Area: As a 5A-level scenic area, it attracts numerous tourists with its magnificent grassland scenery and rich ethnic culture. Here, visitors can experience the rich Mongolian flavor and magnificent natural landscapes.
Bosten Lake: Another 5A-level scenic area in Bayingolin, it is the largest inland freshwater lake in Xinjiang. The beautiful scenery of the lake and mountains here is breathtaking, making it an excellent destination for leisure and vacation. The Dahekou scenic area of Bosten Lake is an ideal spot to “admire the reeds and lotus ponds, and experience ethnic flavor”.
Ancient City of Loulan: Within the site are ruins of courtyards and Buddhist stupas, making it an important place for exploring ancient Loulan civilization. Although some areas are temporarily closed, tourists can still sense the mystery and glory of the ancient Silk Road here.
In addition, there are numerous attractions worth visiting such as the Lop Nur Village, the Tarim River Poplar Forest Park, and the Loulan Museum.
