Travel Diary of the Xinjiang Train Tour – Double-Decker?
In the early spring of 2025, I was fortunate to embark on a unique journey to Xinjiang – a tour around Xinjiang aboard the double-decker internet-famous train. This journey not only allowed me to appreciate the stunning scenery of Xinjiang but also deeply felt the vastness and magic of this land.?
Anticipation Before Departure?
Before departing, I obtained information about this train through various channels. This internet-famous double-decker train passes through Urumqi, Turpan, Altay, Ili, Aksu, Kashgar, and many other prefectures and cities in Xinjiang, covering almost all the popular attractions in Xinjiang. The carriages are divided into upper and lower decks. Hard sleepers, except for six-person compartments in the upper and lower aisles, all adopt four-person compartment bodies. Soft sleepers are also divided into four-person and double compartments, with complete internal facilities, providing boiling water, air conditioning, and charging services 24 hours a day, bringing great convenience and comfort to passengers.?
The Setting Sail of the Journey?
The journey slowly started from Urumqi Station. With the roar of the train, I officially began this dreamlike journey to Xinjiang. Through the wide windows, I could clearly see the scenery outside like a scroll unfolding. Snow-capped mountains, grasslands, deserts, and gobi, each frame was the most generous gift of nature. Sitting in the comfortable double-decker soft sleeper, I felt as if I were on a moving observation deck, enjoying this rare tranquility and beauty to my heart’s content.?
Scenery Along the Way?
The first stop of the train was Turpan. Here, besides the world-famous Flaming Mountain and Grape Valley, there is also the well-preserved Jiaohe Ancient City site. Wandering on this ancient land, I felt as if I had traveled through time, sensing the heaviness of history and the vicissitudes of time. Next, the train continued westward, and we arrived at Kanas Lake. Autumn here is regarded as the most beautiful season, with colorful forests reflected in the clear lake water, forming a breathtaking autumn picture. Taking a cruise boat among them, I was deeply enchanted by this tranquility and beauty.?
Unique Experiences?
Besides enjoying the beautiful scenery, this journey also brought me many unique experiences. In Kanas Scenic Area, I was fortunate enough to taste the local Tuwa people’s mare’s milk wine, listen to the melodious sound of the Sudi flute, and feel the rich Altay grassland culture. While by the Sayram Lake in the Ili Valley, I felt as if I were immersed in a sapphire inlaid among the mountains, experiencing the grandeur and mystery of nature.?
Reflections on the Return Journey?
As the journey came to an end, the train slowly pulled into Urumqi Station. Looking back on this trip, I couldn’t help but be filled with numerous emotions. The vastness and magic of Xinjiang, the grandeur and tranquility of nature, the enthusiasm and simplicity of the local people have all left a deep impression on me. This journey around Xinjiang aboard the double-decker internet-famous train not only allowed me to appreciate the stunning scenery of Xinjiang but also gave me a deeper understanding and insight into this land. I believe that this unforgettable journey will become one of the most precious memories of my life.?
