The tourist train meets the current trend of green and low-carbon travel and is popular among many tourists. Nowadays, Xinjiang is becoming more and more beautiful and its transportation more and more convenient. The development trend of "the north of the Great Wall surpassing the regions south of the Yangtze" is unstoppable. The Grand Xinjiang Tourist Train provides tourists with a channel to understand, enter, and feel Xinjiang, while also driving the vigorous development of Xinjiang’s tourism market. With the arrival of the peak tourist season in Xinjiang, famous tourist attractions in northern Xinjiang such as Kanas, Nalati, Sayram Lake, and Bayinbuluke have become popular choices for domestic tourism. From early July to late August, the Xinjiang Railway Department will launch the "Grand Xinjiang" tourist train for the fourth consecutive year, planning two routes: an 8-day "Grand Xinjiang" Northern Xinjiang Loop Tour (Kanas, Nalati, Sayram Lake) and an 8-day special route (Kanas, Nalati, Sayram Lake, Bayinbuluke), as well as 5-night and 6-day, and 7-night and 8-day quality tour products, allowing tourists from home and abroad to travel to Xinjiang by train, greatly facilitating tourists’ long-distance and convenient travel needs.

Itinerary arrangement:
Option 1:
D1 Urumqi – Yining City (one-way about 700 kilometers, about 12 hours)
In the evening, take the air-conditioned hard sleeper train at Urumqi New Station (High-speed Railway Station) to Yining City, the south of the Great Wall but north of the Yangtze. (Distance: 614KM) Overnight stay on the air-conditioned train. (The specific train number and schedule are subject to the notification by the staff before 12:00 pm on the departure day.)
Friendly reminder: The train is not equipped with a dining car, please have a meal before boarding the train.
D2 Yining – Nalati – Yining (one-way by car about 260 kilometers, about 3.5 hours)
Early morning pick-up at the railway station (please wash up on the train in advance) and take a tourist bus to [Nalati, one of the world’s four alpine valley grasslands and a national AAAAA scenic area] (ticket included). Along the way, the mountains are adorned with flowers, butterflies are fluttering, and tents dot the landscape. You can also see small patches of poplar forests and feel the resilient life and unyielding demeanor of the poplars. Pass by the Wusu Ancient Tomb Group; along the way, enjoy the picturesque scenery on both sides of the Gongnais Valley. Arrive in Nalati Town for lunch. After lunch, take the [valley grassland shuttle bus within the scenic area] (fare included) to the Nalati scenic area to experience Kazak folk customs (tour time is about 3.5 hours, including the time to enter and exit the scenic area by valley shuttle bus). You can take optional tours within the scenic area, such as sightseeing cars, horse riding, tandem bicycles, and lawn motorcycles, to feel the charm of the grassland. Afterward, return to Yining City. After dinner, check into the hotel.
Friendly Reminder:
1. The temperature on the grassland is relatively low, so be prepared for cold weather. Even in summer, from July to September, the night temperatures are low.
2. The Swan Lake area is a grassland wetland marsh. Do not get too close to the swans out of curiosity and fall into the marsh. It is advisable to hire a local guide for direction.
D3 Yining – Sayram Lake – Khorgos – Yining (one-way distance from Yining to Sayram Lake is 170KM, taking 2.5 to 3 hours) – Beitun City
Early in the morning, take a car to Sayram Lake, and visit the complimentary [Lavender Manor for about 60 minutes] on the way. Lavender belongs to the genus Lavandula of the Lamiaceae family in botanical classification. Lavender is an important aromatic economic plant with evergreen foliage and a fragrant aroma throughout the year. Its flowers are usually purple, blue, pink, white, and other colors, which makes it highly ornamental. It is a plant material used for arranging flower beds, flower blankets, and creating flower sea landscapes. At the same time, it also has good medicinal, healthcare, and chemical industrial practical values. Then pass through the picturesque scenery of [Guozigou, the First Pass of Yili] (no stopping due to traffic reasons) to arrive at Sayram Lake, known as the Pearl of the Western Regions, located at a high altitude in the Tianshan Mountains – [Sayram Lake with first-entry ticket included for about 2 hours of exploration] (complimentary lake cruise fee of 100 yuan/person). Sayram Lake is surrounded by mountains, reflecting the sky and water. In spring, wildflowers bloom everywhere; in summer, the grass is lush, with horses galloping and sheep and cows grazing like clouds. The lake is embraced by green mountains, with towering pine and cypress trees at the foot of the mountains, and mist shrouding the mid-mountain. The sky and water blend into one color, resembling a poetic scroll full of grandeur and clarity. Afterwards, head to Khorgos City, a newly established city in the northwest corner of China, about 100 kilometers away, with a driving time of 1.5 hours. Visit the [border trade market at the Khorgos Port, one of China’s three major land trade ports] for about 30 minutes (self-paid for the boundary monument and shuttle bus at 60 yuan/person). Experience the prosperity of Sino-Kazakh trade. Afterward, return to Yining by car (60 kilometers, 1.5 hours needed). During the trip, you can optionally visit the [Ancient City of Huiyuan]. At the entrance are two stone lions lying prone with a majestic gaze. The delicate forms of southern stone lions are blended with the rugged carving techniques of Xinjiang. Inside the courtyard, towering ancient trees stand, with four of them serving as living witnesses of history. Standing in the front courtyard and looking ahead, it seems like a messenger is riding a horse galloping over to deliver war news. In the center of the Ancient City of Huiyuan stands a magnificent bell and drum tower. When you climb to the top, you can take in the scenery inside and outside the city at a glance. Upon arrival in Yining City, transfer to the Yining Railway Station for departure to Beitun City.
In the morning, guides will gradually start holding signs to pick up passengers at the exit. Please wash up on the train in advance; (the guide’s contact information, our company will arrange for the guide to contact you the day before and inform you of the content on the pick-up sign and contact information). Afterwards, take a car to the restaurant for breakfast, and then take a car to the [Kanas Scenic Area] (about 240 kilometers, traveling for about 5 hours). On the way, pass by Colorful Beach, which can be visited at an additional cost with a complimentary visit [Colorful Beach] (120 yuan/person, visiting for about 30 minutes). Colorful Beach is a national 4A scenic area. Noon: Lunch in Jiadengyu. After lunch, proceed to the Kanas Ticket Office [including the first-entry ticket and round-trip shuttle bus, visiting for about 4 hours]. Arrive at the Kanas Scenic Area ticket gate and transfer to the shuttle bus to enter Kanas National Geological Park. Along the Kanas River, enjoy the sights of the primitive forest of Siberian larch, birch forest scenery, Shenxianwan, Wolongwan, Moon Bay, and Yaze Lake. In the lake area, you can take a cruise ship at an additional cost (120 yuan/person) to tour Kanas Lake. Then enter the
Evening: Take the shuttle bus from the Kanas scenic area back to the centralized residential area of Jiadengyu, about 30 kilometers, with a travel time of 1 hour. After dinner, check in at the hotel.
D5 Kanas – Beitun – Urumqi
After breakfast, take the shuttle bus again to the Kanas scenic area, with a complimentary visit to the Fish Viewing Pavilion (shuttle bus: 120 yuan/person). Passing by the Hundred Flowers Garden, with colorful wildflowers everywhere creating a breathtaking view, overlooking Kanas Lake, exploring the mystery of the lake monster, and gazing at Friendship Peak. Climbing the Fish Viewing Platform is the exclamation mark at the end of your Kanas tour. Without climbing the Fish Viewing Platform, you cannot fully appreciate the beauty of Kanas; without climbing it, you cannot fully comprehend the true meaning of life. Gather at the scenic area and take the shuttle bus back to Jiadengyu. After lunch in Jiadengyu, return to Beitun to catch the train.
D6 Urumqi — Various Locations
Arrive at Urumqi Station in the morning, ending the pleasant journey and returning to beautiful Urumqi! End of the pleasant itinerary.
