Travel Precautions
When it comes to Northern Xinjiang, everyone has mixed feelings. They want to go to a place closer to the blue sky, but they still have some lingering fears. Why choose a professional team? I’ll tell you the answer below.
1: If you have never driven in the plateau before, chartering a car is a wise choice. You don’t need any experience or have to think too much. Just adjust your mood and follow the driver on the road, and everyone will become the best of friends.
2: It’s worry-free; you don’t have to worry about food, accommodation, transportation, and sightseeing along the way. You can leave all the trivia to the driver and enjoy the scenery along the way! Accommodation along the route is usually booked in advance before departure, and road conditions and weather forecasts are checked in advance.
3: The activity schedule is flexible, and everyone can stop the car to take photos anytime on the way. You can spend more time at fun places and skip uninteresting ones; you are in charge of the time. This avoids the old routine of sleeping on the bus and taking photos when you get off.
4: Even if you are traveling alone, I believe that choosing us will bring you unexpected surprises, because you are not alone; we are with you.
5: The organizer will purchase all necessary supplies in advance the day before departure. The vehicle will be equipped with walkie-talkies, anti-altitude sickness medication, and other emergency and first aid items.
6: The delightful thing during the trip is to capture the natural beauty and happy moments. You won’t miss any good photo opportunities, and you’ll have plenty of fantastic photos to share, making you a perfect photographer for others.
7: There will be no shopping arrangements on the way, so you can relax and enjoy the journey.
8: Don’t know how to plan your itinerary? (Don’t worry, leave it to us.) Afraid of rushing through attractions? (You’re here to have fun, and as long as you don’t say you want to leave, I won’t leave either.) Encounter unprofessional drivers? (Our fleet is equipped with drivers who have been driving in Northern Xinjiang for over five years.) Will there be any extra charges? (No.) Don’t take chances with chartered cars with low prices, as they may use novice drivers practicing on attractions, be unfamiliar with road conditions, or miss attractions. Drivers who have just arrived in the plateau may suffer from temporary paralysis and loss of consciousness while driving. Therefore, when traveling in Northern Xinjiang, it is best to choose a professional fleet to guide you. Whether this is your first time or you’ve been here many times, you have traveled thousands of miles to witness the scenery here.
Practical Tips and Strategies:
If you choose to take the train, be sure to book a sleeper to Urumqi in advance on the 12306 railway website, otherwise there may not be any tickets available; of course, if conditions permit, I would recommend taking a plane or high-speed train for a quicker and more comfortable journey.
If you are traveling to Xinjiang and plan to visit many attractions, I highly recommend getting a Kakatong card!! It really saves a lot of money!! Follow and search for the official account ‘Kakatong Travel Network’, then enter your ID number to register for Kakatong, and activate it via SMS verification code. You can also view the list of free attractions included within the official account. At the attraction, just scan your ID or present your ID at the ticket window to exchange for a ticket and enter. Some attractions (such as Nalati) have dedicated Kakatong windows, so please take note.
In July and August, you need to bring thick clothes when visiting Kanas, Hemu, and Nalati Grassland. Especially in Kanas and Hemu, it’s very cold in the morning and evening. It’s not excessive to wear sweaters and thermal pants. Be sure to bring thick clothes, especially when going to Hemu to watch the sunrise. It’s really cold! While Wucaitan, Devil’s City, and even Turpan, which we didn’t visit, are very hot. Be sure to protect yourself from the sun!
Although Jiangbulake and Keketohai are not very famous, they are also beautiful. Jiangbulake features golden wheat fields, and you can rent a car to enter the scenic area and take photos anytime you want. Keketohai is a sea of rocks and stones. After entering the scenic area, you need to take a shuttle bus for a while and then walk forward on your own.
The validity of the Kanas ticket is two days, and there are two types of shuttle bus tickets: one-entry and two-entry. The one-entry ticket costs 100 yuan, and the two-entry ticket costs 130 yuan. It is recommended to stay in the log cabin in Tuwa Village within the scenic area on the first night of your visit to Kanas. Then, remember to buy a one-entry shuttle bus ticket, which can save you the trouble of taking the shuttle bus back and forth (the shuttle bus ride up the mountain takes about 50 minutes, which is quite long). You can also watch the morning mist in the scenic area the next morning. Tuwa Village is divided into the old village and the new village. The old village is closer to the tourist center, but the new village is quieter. There are free shuttle buses from the tourist center to Tuwa New Village, so it is recommended to stay there. When arriving at the tourist center, call the hotel to pick you up.
Go to Kanas Lake in the morning to avoid backlighting. The morning mist at the Three Bays must be seen. There are buses departing from Tuwa New Village specifically for watching the morning mist at the Three Bays from 7-9 am. The Fish Viewing Platform is worth visiting, but you need to purchase a separate round-trip ticket for 120 yuan.
The sunrise in Hemu is worth seeing! Stay in the log cabin in Hemu Village, pass by the Hemu River in the morning, and climb the mountain for about 20 minutes to reach the top. The sunrise in August is around 7:30 am, so you can arrive at the mountain before 7 am. Be sure to wear thick clothes. Hemu rafting costs 200 yuan per person. It’s not very exciting and lasts for less than an hour. Those interested can try it.
The grilled dogfish at the Burqin Night Market is delicious. There are two food streets, old and new. Remember to bring your ID when going to the food streets, as security checks are strict and you won’t be allowed in without it.
五彩滩 and Wuerhe Devil’s City are optional, in my opinion. If you are a geography enthusiast, you may be more interested. It’s better not to go there during the midday heat, as it’s really sunny and hot.魔鬼城 takes a small train to get up, with four stops along the way. After getting off, you can take the next train to continue.
The highlight of Bayin布鲁克 is the sunset at the Nine-Curve and Eighteen-Bend Scenic Area, so you don’t need to arrive too early. Just reach the top of the mountain at 8-9 pm.
The Duku Highway is very beautiful. If you rent a car, you must go see it.
