1. Tuyugou Mazar Village: They have inherited the ancient custom of building houses with loess for over 2,000 years. The houses are all built with loess bricks. They are economical, warm in winter and cool in summer, and have a beautiful appearance.
2. Uyghur Folk Village: The Uyghur Folk Village is located in Yaguole Village, Yar Township, Turpan City, adjacent to Jiaohe Ancient City.
3. Turpan Desert Scenic Area: Located 10 kilometers southeast of Turpan City, it covers an area of 34 hectares and is the Desert Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was established in 1976 and integrates sand-fixing plants, sand hazard prevention, and tourism.
4. Grape Valley: Turpan Grape Valley is a national 5A scenic area and also the peach blossom source of Huozhou. It runs north-south, with a total length of about 8 kilometers and a width of 2 kilometers east-west. Grape River flows through the middle. Grapes are widely planted in the valley, lush and green, with a complete variety of grapes. It can be said to be a museum of grape families. Inside the valley, there is the Western Song King – Wang Luobin Music Art Museum, Oasis Grape Manor, Ethnic Village, and Maxilep Ethnic Song and Dance Performances.
5. Bozikli Thousand Buddha Caves: It was the Buddhist center of ancient Gaochang, excavated during the Northern and Southern Dynasties and has gone through seven centuries so far. The Huihe Gaochang period was the most prosperous time for the grotto group. At the end of the 13th century, the royal family of Gaochang moved to Yongchang, Gansu Province.
6. Astana Cemetery: Astana Cemetery is a public cemetery for residents of Gaochang City from the Western Jin Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty, located 40 kilometers southeast of Turpan City. It dates back over 1,700 years and is known as an underground museum.
7. Aiding Lake: Aiding Lake is the lowest place in the Turpan Basin and the lowest place on China’s land, with an elevation of -154.31 meters below sea level and a lakebed at -161 meters. Its special geographical location, significance, and social value attract a large number of tourists from home and abroad every year.
7. Kumtag Desert Park: The Kumtag Desert is one of the few deserts in the world that is located near a city. It covers an area of 2,500 square kilometers. ‘Kumtag’ means sand mountain. The reason for its formation is the southwest wind from the Tianshan Qijiaojing Gap and the southeast wind from the Dabancheng Gap. After traveling long distances, these winds carry a large amount of sand particles, which finally meet and deposit in the Kumtag area. It is now a scenic spot integrating exploration, sand sports, sand therapy and health care, and desert sightseeing.
