Recommended travel routes in Xinjiang in September are as follows:
Northern Xinjiang Kanas + Hemu Small Loop (suitable from early September to early October):
D1: Depart from Urumqi, proceed along the S21 Desert Highway, pass by Ulungur Lake, enjoy the sunset at Colorful Beach, and arrive in Burqin in the evening.
D2: Depart from Burqin, head to Hemu Village, and enjoy the scenery of the Altay Great Grasslands along the way. Stay overnight in a log cabin in Hemu Village to experience the tranquility of the countryside.
D3: Depart from Hemu Village, visit Kanas Lake, including scenic spots such as Shenxian Bay, Wolong Bay, and Moon Bay, and stay overnight in Kanas or Jiadenyu.
D4: Depart from Kanas, head to Urho魔鬼城 (Wuerhe Ghost Town), and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the poplar forest along the way (arranged from September 20th), arriving in Karamay in the evening.
D5: Depart from Karamay, take a trip around Sayram Lake to feel its tranquility and beauty, and then return to Urumqi or choose another itinerary.
In addition, there are routes such as the southern Xinjiang Kashgar + Pamir Plateau Small Loop (suitable from October to early November). However, considering the time point in September, the northern Xinjiang Kanas + Hemu Small Loop is more suitable.
If you have plenty of time, you can also consider the 16-day Grand Loop itinerary across southern and northern Xinjiang, but please note that the itinerary is relatively compact.
When planning your itinerary, please be sure to pay attention to the local weather conditions and tourism policies to ensure a smooth and safe journey. Meanwhile, Xinjiang boasts numerous beautiful scenery, so it is recommended to arrange your itinerary reasonably according to your interests and time to enjoy an unforgettable travel experience.
