It is an alpine lake nestled in the deep mountains and dense forests of the Altay Mountains. The name Kanas in Mongolian means ‘beautiful and fertile, mysterious and unpredictable’. The lake surface is at an altitude of 1,374 meters and covers an area of 44.78 square kilometers. Red peonies and willow roses bloom everywhere, while golden lotuses, tulips, and water buttercups are golden yellow. Delphiniums, irises, larkspurs, and forget-me-nots add a deep blue hue. The tall phalangeium and wild carrot flowers resemble layers of white clouds floating in the air. At this time, Kanas is a sea of flowers, a world of flowers. By September, Kanas enters its golden autumn.
