One of the must-visit attractions: Kanas tourist attractions
Kanas Lake is located in the north of Burqin County, Xinjiang. Here, you can see blue skies, white clouds, snow-capped mountains, and ice peaks. Moreover, Kanas Lake is surrounded by lush forests and meadows. The entire scenic area allows tourists to appreciate the beautiful lake scenery and the magnificent northern landscape. Kanas Lake is also the deepest inland lake in China. If you come to Xinjiang, Kanas Lake is a must-visit attraction. Known as the "pure land on earth", the Kanas tourist area is located in the middle of the Altai Mountains in northern Xinjiang, in the golden zone bordering Kazakhstan, Russia, and Mongolia. The Bayinbuluke Grassland boasts famous scenic spots such as Swan Lake and the Nine-Bend-Eighteen-Turn River, with absolutely beautiful scenery. The grassland here is lush with water and grass, dotted with rivers and lakes. The grassland is surrounded by mountains, with continuous hills alternating with vast meadows. The unnamed temple between Swan Lake and the Nine-Bend-Eighteen-Turn River is an excellent place for photography at sunrise and sunset, and at this time, you will hardly encounter other tourists. Bayinbuluke Grassland, which means "abundant springs" in Mongolian, has been inhabited by the Gushi people for 2,600 years. In the 36th year of Emperor Qianlong’s reign in the Qing Dynasty (1771), the Kalmyk, Khoshut, and other Mongolian tribes, led by Ogbosun, rose up in rebellion and returned east from the Volga River basin in Russia. In 1773, they were settled on the Bayinbuluke Grassland and along the Kaidu River.
It is located at the southern foot of the Middle Tianshan Mountains, with an altitude of about 2,500 meters and an area of 22,000 square kilometers. It is the second-largest grassland in China, second only to the Erdos Grassland in Inner Mongolia. The terrain here is flat, and the water and grass are abundant. It is a typical grassland meadow of gramineous herbs and also a fertile summer pasture at the southern foot of the Tianshan Mountains. The grassland is covered with green grass, and there are flocks of cattle and sheep. The surrounding mountains embrace the land, and rivers flow like ribbons. The terrain is vast and undulating, with a wide variety of plants. This vast and flat land, rich in water and grass, is full of high-quality "butter grass", nurturing more than 600,000 head (or only) of cattle and sheep. It is one of the pastoral bases in Xinjiang. It is rich in Yanqi Tianshan horses, Bayinbuluke big-tailed sheep, Chinese Merino sheep, and yaks known as "plateau tanks", which are honored as the "four treasures of the grassland". Every midsummer, flowers bloom on the grassland, competing for beauty. Flocks of sheep wander like white clouds, and snow lotus-like yurts are scattered among them.
Third Must-Visit Tourist Attraction: Sayram Lake
Located in Bole City, Bortala Prefecture, Xinjiang, Sayram Lake in the mountainous region provides a visual impact. As a must-visit attraction in Xinjiang, it boasts unique natural scenery and advantageous geographical location. Sayram Lake is also known as ‘A Tear of the Atlantic Ocean’. ‘A Tear of the Atlantic Ocean’ is a compliment to Sayram Lake. Located at high altitude and far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and worldly troubles, Sayram Lake has not been polluted by industrialization, and its water is clear and transparent. When traveling here, you can feel the beauty of the lake and its surroundings, experience the customs of grassland nomadic life, and admire various bird populations that inhabit here. The Sayram Lake Scenic Area centers on Sayram Lake, including the picturesque mountainous forests and lakeside grasslands around the lake, forming a lake-type scenic spot. The lake is 20 kilometers long from east to west and 30 kilometers wide from north to south, covering an area of 454 square kilometers. The maximum depth of the lake is 86 meters, and it is slightly oval in shape. The altitude of the southern part of the lake is 2073 meters, with a water storage capacity of 21 billion square meters. There have long been legends about lake monsters, wind tunnels in the lake’s center, vortices, and undersea magnetic fields at Sayram Lake. From the end of July to the beginning of August each year, Mongolian and Kazakh herdsmen here hold a national-level festival event – the Sayram Lake Nadamu Congress.
