The Kanas Scenic Area is located in the middle section of the Altai Mountains in northern Xinjiang, in the golden zone bordering Kazakhstan, Russia, and Mongolia. Its natural and cultural landscapes have retained their primitive charm, earning it the reputation of ‘a pure land on earth’.
The Kanas Tourist Area, with 48°13′ North Latitude as its southern boundary, is bounded by Hemu Township in the east and extends northwest to the border, covering a planned area of 10,030 square kilometers. It includes seven renowned natural landscapes and three cultural landscapes at home and abroad, such as the Kanas National Nature Reserve, Kanas National Geological Park, Baihaba National Forest Park, Jiadengyu National Forest Park, Burqin Valley, Hemu Valley, Hemu Grassland, as well as three primitive Tuvan villages—Hemu Village, Baihaba Village, and Kanas Village. Among them, Kanas Lake is hailed as ‘the most beautiful lake in the world’.
Kanas is really too beautiful, almost like a painting.
In spring, Kanas is adorned with mountain flowers and lush grass; in summer, it is verdant and its lakes shimmer; in autumn, the forests are ablaze with color and the water shines like jade; in winter, Kanas is cloaked in silver and ice, presenting a purity unparalleled. The scenery of Kanas varies greatly with the seasons and weather changes.
