During the 2024 Shanghai Tourism Festival, Kashi Prefecture launched a tourism float with the theme of ‘Silk Road Pearl, Charming Kashi’.?
The float displays the magnificent scenery where Kunlun snowy mountains, Gobi valleys, and desert poplar forests converge, as well as the folk customs of the Kashi people, who are born with the ability to sing and dance. The diverse fruits on the float embody Kashi’s reputation as the ‘Hometown of Fruits and Melons’, and local specialties such as almonds, walnuts, and red dates have obtained national geographical indication certification. The colorful ribbons at the bottom of the float are Aidilaisi, one of the many intangible cultural heritage items in Kashi.?
As one of the most influential tourism festivals nationwide, the 35th Shanghai Tourism Festival was held from September 14th to October 6th, 2024. Kashi Prefecture became one of the eight major venues of the Shanghai Tourism Festival for the first time, presenting the customs and charm of the Western Regions to tourists from across the country and even the world. During the most traditional, classic, and influential float parade segment of the opening ceremony, the Kashi float with the theme of ‘Silk Road Pearl, Charming Kashi’ and the performance contingent of the Kashi Prefecture Song and Dance Troupe made a splendid appearance, conveying beauty and joy.?
