I believe that everyone who loves life is a skilled photographer. So where is a good place to take photos? Today, I recommend to you the itinerary and travel tips for a Xinjiang photography tour group, so that you can see how beautiful Xinjiang is. Many photographers come to Xinjiang at the end of August and the beginning of September each year as photography enthusiasts. Below, I will introduce some information to you, hope you like it…..!
The autumn scenery of Kanas and Hemu is mainly characterized by the color change of the vast autumn leaf forest, creating a visually stunning scene of the forest being dyed in layers of colors. The color change of leaves is related to temperature, humidity, tree species, tree age, and so on. Generally speaking, yellow leaves begin to appear when the temperature drops to around 10 degrees Celsius. Areas with less moisture turn yellow first, and younger trees turn yellow first. Based on past experience, yellow leaves begin to appear in early September each year, and the entire Kanas becomes colorful with red, yellow, orange, green, and so on. Starting from mid-September, most of the leaves have changed color, entering the best period for enjoying the autumn scenery of northern Xinjiang. If the weather remains stable, the yellow leaves can last beyond National Day. If cold fronts are frequent, the leaves will fall earlier. Xiakeyike organizes tours during the best viewing period based on past experience. Of course, the exact situation of Kanas’ autumn scenery in 2018 will depend on nature’s arrangement. There will be more tourists during National Day. If time allows, it is recommended to avoid the Golden Week in advance.
The first thing to mention is that the walls of Kuitun Grand Canyon are nearly vertical, with cliffs everywhere along the valley. The gullies on the valley walls have carved the walls into a stone forest-like shape, which is unique and steep. The valleys and gullies are layered and well-organized, with snow-capped mountains, canyons, grasslands, and running water complementing each other, showcasing nature’s ingenuity and craftsmanship. The Kuitun River flows through the bottom of the valley, and coupled with millions of years of rain erosion, it has left a dense network of gullies, fine gullies, and cutting gullies on the overhanging cliffs of the undercut valley filled with gravel. Gullies cover the valley trough walls for tens of kilometers. The bottom of the valley is flat and spacious, with gravel everywhere on the riverbeach. The running water sometimes merges and sometimes separates. The canal on the right side of the valley extends along the valley, forming a beautiful picture. It is the cradle for photographers to create and also a tourist attraction in Xinjiang.

Jiangbulake is a Kazakh term meaning the source of holy water. Beautiful Jiangbulake is renowned for its picturesque and enchanting flower seas, tranquil and secluded black ponds, and the world’s relatively unique Tian Shan’s strange slope. Jiangbulake’s most famous landmark, actually called "Dao Tiao Ling," is a high, elongated snow-capped mountain ridge that stands like a knife blade between continuous snow-capped mountains, hence its local name "Dao Tiao Ling" (Knife-Picked Ridge). Each season in Jiangbulake is beautiful and has its unique characteristics, making it an ideal destination for photography travel in Xinjiang!
Kumtag Desert Scenic Area is located in the Kumtag Desert, spanning 2,500 square kilometers. Situated at the southern end of the old city of Shanshan, Xinjiang, it is one of the rare deserts in the world that is in direct contact with a city. Photography Travel Equipment in Xinjiang
1. Backpack
Xinjiang is a vast territory with considerable distances between many attractions. Coupled with desert oases, snowy mountains, and grasslands, you should pack sufficiently. Therefore, try to choose a backpack with a larger capacity, preferably not less than 50 liters.
2. Tent, sleeping bag, and ground mat
Northern Xinjiang has more rainfall, while other areas have very little rain. Except for places like Burqin, Turpan, and Bosten Lake, which have mosquitoes in summer, there are very few mosquitoes in other areas. In addition, most places have hotels, so tents are rarely used. Three-season tents are double-layered, with ventilated screens and waterproof covers. But if you plan to go mountain climbing or exploring, you should buy a mountaineering tent. It is recommended to buy an aluminum alloy pole with a diameter of 8 to 10 millimeters.
3. Shoes
The four essential elements of a good pair of traveling shoes are: lightweight, non-slip, breathable, and waterproof. If traveling in winter, you also need to consider warmth. Since Xinjiang has many deserts, to prevent sand from getting into your shoes, you must buy high-cut shoes. Hiking shoes are a good choice because they are lightweight, have sturdy soles, are non-slip, have leather uppers that are wear-resistant and waterproof, and have padding support and protection at the ankles. Desert boots have hard soles and sheepskin uppers, which provide good breathability and prevent sand from entering the shoes, making them a great option as well.
4. Clothing
If traveling from July to November and not climbing snowy mountains, even if entering the Karakoram Mountains or the Pamir Plateau, bringing a good set of woolen sweater and pants will suffice; if still unsure, you can bring a down jacket. Woolen sweaters or down jackets should preferably be red, so that if you get lost in the mountains and need rescue, you can use it as a signal flag to attract attention.
5. Documents
You must bring your ID card. At certain times, student IDs, teacher IDs, or press IDs should also be brought.
8. Water Bottle
10. Photographic Equipment: Xinjiang has windy and sandy conditions, so lens cleaning paper and an air blower must be brought. The best times for photography are early morning and late afternoon, when the sun shines obliquely and the background of the photographed objects is bathed in diffuse golden or blue light.
11. Compass
If you do not have plans to enter the heart of the Taklamakan Desert, uninhabited areas, or explore Lop Nur, you can leave it behind. If you have such plans, then you must bring it.
12. Telescope
For the vast Xinjiang, it is often useful.
13. Equipment that can be supplemented after arriving in Xinjiang
Plastic Bags: Mainly used to pack your own clothes and bring back any trash discarded in nature.
Medicine:
Cold medicine must be brought, and it should be the kind that works quickly. If you plan to travel on the Xinjiang-Tibet route or to the Pamir Plateau, also bring some Banlangen Granules, drinking one packet a day for prevention. If you get carsick, bring carsickness medicine; to prevent heatstroke, buy some Huoxiang Zhengqi Water; Xinjiang’s climate is dry and easy to cause internal heat, so bring some Niuhuang Jiedu Pian; also, antihistamines, skin cream, antidiarrheal medication, eyedrops, Safflower Oil, Yunnan Baiyao, essential balm, etc., are all necessary supplements. If you’re going to the plateau, also buy American ginseng slices, Zhennaoning, Vitamin C, Bufferin, and sleeping pills.
First Aid Kit:
Bandages used to wrap wounds or fix broken limbs to prevent further injury – triangular bandages can be used to suspend injured arms; painkillers to relieve pain and discomfort; band-aids for treating small wounds; as well as anti-inflammatory drugs, scissors, antibacterial drugs, safety pins, corn patches, alcohol, gauze, adhesive tape, etc. Additionally, items to supplement include: flashlight batteries, candles, ropes, lighters or matches, toilet paper, food, lunch boxes, salt, mineral water, etc.
14. Camera
One DSLR camera, two lenses, one waterproof digital camera (can withstand wind and sand), one tripod, and others include spare batteries, portable hard drives, laptops, etc.!
