For many people, southern Xinjiang,
Are still just
A couple of impressions heard from others in one’s mind
It is mysterious
"The ancient kingdom of Loulan, Lop Nur, the ‘one-way’ Taklamakan Desert"
It has a long history
"The former Thirty-Six Kingdoms of the Western Regions, the bustling Silk Road; Emperor Wu of Han defeated the Huns here, bringing the Western Regions entirely under Chinese territory"
It has many legends
"It is the place where Tang Monk and his disciples passed through on their way to fetch Buddhist scriptures from the West, and it seems that every martial arts novel has a Kunlun Mountain"
There are too many labels associated with it:
"Populus euphratica, Loulan, Lop Nur, the Thirty-Six Kingdoms of the Western Regions"
"View scenery in northern Xinjiang, experience customs in southern Xinjiang"
"Northern Xinjiang is known for its horse herding and singing, while southern Xinjiang is a drought-stricken oasis civilization"
When you truly understand southern Xinjiang
You will discover
Southern Xinjiang has sufficient reasons and confidence
Turning your gaze away from the snowy mountains, shepherding, and singing of northern Xinjiang
Returning to the silence and desolate sands stretching for hundreds of miles without a sign of human life
Southern Xinjiang is a combination of scenery and local customs.
It has different but equally magnificent scenery compared to northern Xinjiang. A trip to southern Xinjiang allows you to find traces of northwest China and Tibet at the same time. There are lakes at the foot of mountains and Populus euphratica in the vast desert, with the Kunlun Mountains and Tianshan Mountains clearly converging in southern Xinjiang.
Karakul Lake reflecting Mount Muztagh
This is a sacred lake even more holy and less crowded than Namtso. If you are lucky enough, you will see the perfect reflection of Mount Muztagh here. The water surface reflects the majestic and mysterious Mount Muztagh, with the mountains and water sharing the same color, creating a captivating scene.
Mount Muztagh is known as the “Father of Glaciers”. It is filled with the faith of pilgrims, blessing generations of the Kyrgyz people, and also containing the pure love between shy young men and women.
The Golden Gift – Tarim Populus euphratica Forest
In southern Xinjiang, the protagonist of autumn is the beautiful Populus euphratica forest. When the autumn wind rises, the Populus euphratica ignites the beautiful autumn colors, adorning the desert with a splendid variety of hues.
The Populus euphratica in Tarim lives for three thousand years without dying, stands for three thousand years after death, and remains undecayed for another three thousand years after falling. They spend their entire lives writing a revelation about life and death and desert guardians who survive against all odds.
