In 2025, let’s take the top luxury tourist train in China, the ‘New Oriental Express’, to travel together along the Silk Road and savor the long history of Chinese civilization spanning 5,000 years.
The New Oriental Express is currently China’s newest luxury tourist train. The hardware configuration, dining service, and attentive service of the staff on the train are comparable to those of star hotels. The accommodation carriages include 8 Supreme Gold Diamond carriages (each carriage has 4 luxury suites, each suite accommodates 2 people, with independent bathrooms, desks, wardrobes, and safes) and 4 Luxury Blue Diamond carriages (each carriage has 7 rooms, each of which can accommodate 2-4 people, with shared bathrooms and showers/refrigerators). The bathroom facilities are complete, with large panoramic windows and exclusive bedding in the rooms. The entire train is equipped with a luxury bar/entertainment carriage and a Chinese-style dining carriage, with professional chefs, providing high-end VIP tourism services throughout the journey.
Introduction to train models:
The 18 brand-new carriages completed in 2020 include 8 Gold Diamond luxury carriages and 10 Blue Diamond carriages. Each Gold Diamond luxury carriage can carry 8 passengers and consists of 4 suites with independent bathrooms and king-size beds; each Blue Diamond carriage can carry 28 passengers and consists of 7 rooms sharing public restrooms and showers.
Equipment introduction:
1. 8 Gold Diamond carriages: 4 double rooms, each room has a king-size bed, desk, wardrobe, safe, and an independent shower restroom.
2. 10 Blue Diamond carriages: 7 double rooms with bunk beds, and 7 rooms share a Chinese-style and a Western-style restroom as well as a public shower room at both ends of the carriage.
Highlights of the new train:
Compared with ordinary trains or special trains, airtightness, stability, and shock absorption have been greatly improved.
The noise decibel data of the air-conditioning system meets the standards. The compressor uses a train-general compressor, and the vehicle has undergone rigorous third-party testing and exceeds the standards before leaving the factory. The main air duct design has been updated, adopting a static pressure sealed chamber. The air outlet adopts side outlet vents, and an electric ventilation regulator is installed. The air compressor has an independent air supply system, which can assist in air supply when there is no generator. The air outlet is soft, and when the vehicle’s wind speed reaches a certain level, it automatically releases air pressure. This setting is unique to special service official cars and is not found in ordinary cars. The power of this car has been increased, and the material of the air duct has been upgraded, providing heat dissipation, insulation, moisture retention, and heat insulation.
3. The design of the entire train has highlights:
1) It is currently the largest compartment with a shower in China; the shower rooms throughout the train are separated into wet and dry areas, with the most advanced partition material design.
2) The original 1064mm windows have been replaced with 25T type 1528mm panoramic windows in the corridors and rooms; 3) Each room has an additional air volume adjustment switch;
4) Upper berths with damping devices that can be folded up against the wall; this is currently the most advanced design in China. 5) Each bedside in the compartment has a 5-pin socket (AC200V/300W, 2 sets in total) for computer and mobile phone charging with USB ports; a set of 5-pin sockets (AC200V/1500W) is provided at the multi-functional table, and a 5-pin socket with splash-proof cover (AC200V/1500W) is provided in the restroom;

4. The furniture throughout the train is made of solid wood, customized by a manufacturer designated by the China Railway Corporation specifically for official and special transport vehicles. The mattress for the queen-size bed is from Qumei, the shower is from Haier, and the bathing products in Gold Diamond and Blue Diamond compartments are generally brands like Lux, Rejoice, and Safeguard.
Special services of high-end luxury private trains:
* The itinerary is a high-end, personalized customized product that fully meets customer needs. The train mostly operates at night, stopping during the day for sightseeing, ensuring safety, reliability, and comfort.
* VIP reception throughout the journey, with dedicated vehicles. The train waits locally at each destination.
* The soft sleeper compartment assigned to each passenger on the private train will not change throughout the journey, and is equipped with private or shared showers and toilets.
* VIP treatment throughout the journey, with large luggage handled for you (except at airports)
* Chinese cuisine is served throughout the journey. The dining car has tables for four people, with eight dishes and one soup per table at each meal. Each passenger receives one bottle of mineral water upon boarding at each station.
* Each carriage has a dedicated attendant who tidies up at regular times every day to maintain cleanliness and aesthetics. Rooms are supplied with mineral water, hot tea, and fruit. Laundry services are also available at an additional charge.
* The bar car is equipped with coffee tables, TVs, audio equipment, karaoke, and a piano, and provides beverages and mahjong tables.
The dining car and comfortable bar car accompanying the New Oriental Express allow guests to enjoy comfort similar to that of their own homes, along with various entertaining services.
